I forgot one crucial step and maybe you have too
I forgot to Plan, Do and Review.
No that's not true. I had a Plan. I had the Do down pat. But I forgot the Review.
We've all been there where we've heard or learned something. Got us all excited. But we forgot the implementation part?
Or maybe a part of it.
I'll be totally honest. I signed up for the internet network marketing world to make money. Jim Rohn says people do things for only 2 reasons: One is inspiration and the other is desperation. I was in the desperation category. Had to make money. Had to be from home and this sounded like the perfect opportunity.
Not wise to this limitless expanse of opportunity with systems and comp plans, I jumped in with both feet, took 3 months to learn and study and practice all that I was taught. Perfect, absolutely perfect follower. That was my first mistake. "Become a student not a follower" - Jim Rohn
Back to my plan. New marketing materials came out, I was excited and my plan was to sign up 9 people in my opportunity over the next 90 days. That was 3 a month. Day 30 rolled around and I wasn't doing too bad - 2 sign ups. Day 45 - both quit. Back to day one and I'm half way through my ninety days with nothing to show for it.
Don't quit. Got the pep talks. The same ones I'd been getting over the previous 15 months. "It's only a matter of time. Keep at it. Winners never quit, quitters never win. "
But it was time for the review. There were 3 things I needed to look at. Was it me ? Was it the system? Was it the comp plan?
Was it me? Always has to be a part of the "me" in there. Could I have done more? Probably but I had made the committment to work flat out and I had. Could I have made one more phone call each day? Sure. Could I have seen one more person every day? Some days yes. I was working a minimum of 12 hours a day. More than a lot of people so was this industry for me?
Was it the system? "Intention + Mechanism = Results" What was my intention? Make friends? Build relationships? Make money? Help people? What was the mechanism I was using focused on? Making money? Friends? Relationships? Was I helping people? What were my results?
Was it the comp plan? I had traded off the weekly requirements for the weekly paycheque. Was that working for new people? Obviously not, my retention was pretty dismal. Hard comp plan to make money in but I was in the desperation mode to make it work and I could overlook the minor detail that most were not as dedicated as I was.
On paper, the review shaped up into a pretty inadequate situation to satisfy what I wanted and needed from an MLM opportunity and system.
What do you want from your opportunity? Money?
What do you want your system to do? Put you in front of highly qualified people?
What are your results with what you are doing now? Not successful?
Do you have the courage to do what I didn't do quick enough?
PLAN, DO and then REVIEW
Be honest with yourself, take a critical look at your system, evaluate your comp plan and check your results.
EVERY 90 DAYS. It's mandatory !
To your success,
