Network Marketing is Tough..

network marketingVenturing into network marketing or MLM is an exciting time for anyone with big dreams and high hopes.

So much so that most forget what will probably be the most important decision they have to make to achieve network marketing success: choosing a mentor. But why would this be so important?

Anyone honest enough who has had network marketing success will tell you: getting in is the easy part, staying in is a little harder, and getting on top is the number one challenge! And through all these, you need guidance because attaining network marketing success is honestly not just a one-man job. Especially, if you are a beginner, you have to be honest with yourself and accept that you don’t know everything.

The company you keep in network marketing, may it be your mentor or fellow team members, could either make you or break you.

If you are just starting out, the first important thing to do is look. Give yourself enough time not only to look for a mentor but also to know what you want. Make a list of all the things you want to happen in your network marketing success and use this as a checklist for your “perfect” mentor search.

Many offer services for network marketing coaching and mentorship and almost all are online. Go to their homepages and see what they are all about. Usually, a network marketer’s “About me” page can give you a small glimpse of the person. Most offer free e-books that contain free content and “secrets” that lead to their network marketing success, which you can read and assess. A neat trick for a newbie network marketer is signing up with their various websites to get those freebies and read them to give you a better perception of these potential mentors and how they achieved network marketing success.

Next, when you have found potential mentors, whether from the same company as yours or not, make contact and assess their skills and experience. Your ideal mentor is someone who you want to be in the future in terms of success, so they better have great Internet marketing skills and years of experience under their belt. Ask about what methods they use and how they manage their team to achieve network marketing success. If they tell you they have a “secret weapon” that only paying members can avail of, that should be cause enough for you to back off.

Also, it is often preferable to have a mentor who does network marketing as a full-time job. Especially if your mentor is an upline, you would want someone who is available to you so you can contact them right away when you have a potential recruit.

The most important aspect of finding the right mentor for you is probably knowing the mentor’s personality. Do the two of you get along easily not just in business but even in unrelated matters such as family? Remember that you will be spending years working together with your mentor, possibly both online and offline, so you better be comfortable with him or her. Be sure that he or she is someone who will not only show you the ropes to network marketing success but also help you stand on your own when the time for mentorship is done.
