Observing The Masters

Read More: Leadership

It is so gosh darn subtle…

The move of a MASTER…

The way they FLOW…

The way they coax…

The way they POSSES the HEART of the onlooker.

One day a little over 5 years ago I got an email from the MASTER that I hoped

to persuade to be my mentor.

He said to me…You must come to a get together Diane.

You must sit with GIANTS and observe them

For most of what you want to acquire can not be taught via phone (let alone webinar)

Most of what you want to posses is an attitude..a vibe…a BEING

And so I went…scared to death to sit at a dinner with a dozen powerful business owners.

Petrified that I would have a slip of the tongue and reveal that I was nothing more than a housewife.

I was sure that they would reject me…

But instead they embraced me and one by one they shared secrets and moves that had made them MILLIONS

But in the end it was still only the original master that I had traveled to see that interested me as a teacher.

Why???

Because he was the Master of the masters.

And what I didn’t know was that that evening was my AUDITION

The test to see if I had what it takes.

And he had decided that I did…and my lessons began the next morning.

And like a kid on the first day of kindergarten I showed up eager to learn and full of excitement.

And like a child..time and time again I was CORRECTED over the course of years until FINALLY I had acquired the code myself.

And today I am able to wield it.

I have been very successful and for this I am THANKFUL…

And I spend my days doing all I can to find the people that I can pass this along to.

So now for my advice to you dear reader…

Look for the subtlety…

Look for the masterful.

There will ALWAYS be young brash gladiators who will enter the field and conquer for a while.

They seem young, and sexy and successful…

But me…

I always looked for the old sage.

The one who had been in the game 10, 15, or better yet 20 years.

The one who had seen it all and had survived to tell the tales.

The ones with the WISDOM.

And the one who didn’t need to attract attention as they were power embodied.

This is so hard to understand for some…

Like I said..it is SUBTLE.

While I was going through my schooling I often asked why my master didn’t go for the ‘easy” money

Why he didn’t do a quick pitch or write a masterful sales letter as there are few who can do it quite like him…

I couldn’t understand why he would pass up such riches.

And he explained that when one TRANSCENDS the need to take money from people and moves into true STATEMANSHIP is when

his legacy will be secured.

If you KNOW you can attract a raving crowd on demand…there is no longer need to do so…

There is only need to SERVE.

And if you look around…

This industry has a lot of hot shots

A lot of  big earners

A lot of “gurus”

But VERY FEW statesmen (this is not a gender specific term)

I can count them on both of my hands.

These people…and their faithful students

These are the ones that will teach you the CODE that lasts forever…

That will be here long after Facebook is gone (and  I promise you that it WILL be gone someday)

What will you study in 2011?

It’s almost here you know.

In a blink of an eye.

What will you focus your efforts on?

A passing fad or timeless wisdom?

How to do a computer trick or how to get people to eat out of the palm of your hand?

The choice is YOURS…

But at least now you have an idea of the choices that sit in front of you.

I wish you much success in your quest.

And if I can serve you at all…

Let me know.

Consistently True, Consistently Wise

There is so much noise and posturing lately about adding value, and claims that the holy grail will be found H E R E !

What I know to be true is that Diane Hochman had the humility and patience to study and learn at the feet of one of the greatest teachers of all time, and now she willingly shares it with all who are ready to listen. Smart, capable, genuine and the real deal. Thank you, Diane.

Diane Hochman ROCKS

I just want to let the world know that every great thing people are saying about Diane Hochman is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. It wasn't until I stumbled upon her videos here at ABN that I realized that I can make my dreams become reality by taking action. She is not about the almighty dollar. Diane truly is in this business to help others. If I can be half as successful and helpful as Diane is, all my hopes will come to fruition. Thank you thank you thank you Diane from the bottom of my heart!!!

Always a student ...

Hi Diane, thank you, such wise words and your incredible ability to simplify and oooze sincerety ... LOVE that you chose to go to dinner that night - you put yourself out there and now reap the rewards of being a student first of wise mentors. Is that special mentor near you today?

AMAZING Thoughts. a Letter fr Thanksgiving worth of framing!

Mistress Diane, my sincere thanks in this piece of thought that "nails" it so perfectly, as a true master should.
I have to say that I've fumbled as a "child in kinder garden" for a time now, and I'm still grasping the ropes... BUT I'm getting THERE.
Many, many thanks for such an insight full article!
God bless!

The Servant Leader

I LOVE this one Diane. You really touched me with it and I see what you're saying.

Just looking around at the ones making things happen, and the WAY they make it happen... yes I see clearly what you're saying. There is a difference.

There is no leader greater than the leader who serves. A servant leader will have no want of followers.

Thank you Diane, for sharing this one.

Questions Questions Questions.......

The ENTIRE piece was great D!!....but two questions hit the bulls-eye in my mind.

If people could just sit back and truly understand just how IMPORTANT their answers to these two questions are....their LIVES will change....not just their businesses. This WISDOM transcends business and encompasses your life.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

What will you focus your efforts on?

A passing fad or timeless wisdom?

Truly Inspiring

Hi Diane, you must have learned from the best. I'll look for your online work ...
Thanks,

Who it was is not important...

To answer all of you who asked...who was it???

That is not relevent.

You can do some google searches on my and find that very quickly...

What I want you to "get" from this piece is that MENTORSHIP is a very special thing...

And you should search long and hard for the right mentor for you...

Look for the ones who have the EXPERIENCE and THE WISDOM...

Not the one who is a hot shot today.

For it is the one who has SURVIVED through the years and built though ALL circumstances that can teach you to SURVIVE in the industry.

One of my favorite lines is...

I didn't want a buck...

I wanted a business.

And that is what I hope for you....

That you learn how to have a BUSINESS...

One that will last you FOREVER.

And the KEY to creating that is MENTORSHIP.

Diane Hochman — Tue, 11/30/2010 - 7:11pm

Timeless and Forever Hidden in Plain Sight

Widgets, tactics, tools and loopholes
will always come and go. They always have.

But Diane always laces some very profound
and universal truths in everything she shares...

It's always right there... but not really that
easy to grasp... unless you're truly looking.

Then - you see it everywhere.

Focus on the principles that are never moving.
Focus on the people who know and share them.

At the same time... never stop looking deep within.

Because you carry them in you all the time.

The art and mastery of a good mentor/teacher is
that they always have an uncanny ability to help
you find and remember what you were born with...

Thanks Diane, yet again.
