The World ALWAYS Purges Itself Of False Leaders
I was on the phone with Joe Schroeder today and he was reading me
a passage that he had written and it just BLEW ME AWAY.
It was SO true
And in fact I had just been discussing this very concept on
one of my coaching calls…
Get this:
The World ALWAYS Purges Itself Of False Leaders By Offering
Them The Taste Of Laziness And Offering Them PRIDE
I wish I had caught the next line…
I didn’t
But it was something to the effect of that when a false leader gets caught in
these traps they repulse the true leader (their teacher) and they are cast aside
by the kings and queens who held out their hand to them and in the end
the false leader will drop from prominence often to never be seen again.
I was just STUNNED as he read the phrase to me this afternoon as I was
trying to put into words some of what I have been seeing out there for the
past few years and closer to home in the past few months.
I could sit and rattle of the names of people who rose to prominence on the
internet in the Network Marketing circles almost overnight and then just as quickly
were swept away by natures fury.
I can list the people who were HERALDED not so long ago by big players
who were left behind as soon as the tide turned and they no longer had the
“mojo” that they believed they had.
Downlines lost…
Programs closed…
Innocents hurt.
I can account to you the people who swaggered around without humility
claiming to be THE NEXT COMING who are now yet a memory…
often having destroyed all the promise of their future.
Bank accounts stripped…
Egos destroyed…
Never to be recovered again.
I consider myself to be blessed that I have walked the line
between old school and new school Network Marketing.
I was brought up in a time where lineage and pedigree were considered
paramount.
Where HONOR and RESPECT for ones upline mentors and TIME and PRODUCTION got you a seat at the suite parties at the big events where secrets were shared and stories were told.
Where HONOR and RESPECT for ones MASTER COLLEAGUES at other companies
brought the industry together. It was these MASTERS that created the products
that we all studied and recommended to folks.
Today it seems everyone believes they can spit out a product after recruiting 12 people
or getting 120 opt ins….
And better yet…
They believe they can charge MORE than the masters
who went before them.
Today so many people think they are smarter than those that have lead for a
decade or more and built huge organizations.
Today people think they are all “COACHES” who can charge innocent newbies thousands of
dollars for marketing and “leadership” training when they themselves have accomplished
very little and are often BROKE living out of studio apartments and juggling their pay per click
advertising on 6 credit cards with $30 left on each one.
Anyone who can talk a good game can run around and claim to be the article king,
the video marketing queen, the blog giant, or the goddess of social media.
And please BE CLEAR…I am NOT talking about people who today have outrageous stories
who began as broke and made it big over several years…I am one of those people.
But I did not pretend to prance around like the Queen of Sheeba after recruiting
10 people and making believe I had a clue. I POINTED TO AND SERVED THE MASTERS as
did all of my colleagues who have gone the distance.
So…
How do I say this…
How do I feel about what I see going on out there?
Let me be delicate…
Oh screw it…
I can’t control myself!
It’s all BULL
And it makes me ILL
How’s that for blunt.
Remember:
The World ALWAYS Purges Itself Of False Leaders
And knowing that gives me solace as I look around and see all the insanity.
But then again I am still sad as I know thousands are hurt every year.
Ladies and gentlemen…
There is only ONE PATH to mastery.
It is to sit in SERVICE to a mentor.
I want you to think about this…
Can you become a master surgeon without sitting at the feet of a master surgeon?
Can you become a master opera singer without being trained by a master opera singer?
Can you become an olympian without coaching with olympians?
Your common sense tells you NO.
And yet EGO AND PRIDE spurn people into jumping up and yelling
I got a bunch of opt ins so pay me to show you how.
I recruited 46 people so I am a master–pay me to show you how.
I’ve been in a new deal for 3 months and one time I made $10k
Pay me to show you how.
And when a false leader does this…
And so many do…
They CURSE themselves by not honoring the LEGACY of an industry.
By not honoring those that have paid their dues and done the work to create ENDURING businesses.
And while people may be able to get away with their shenanigans for a while…
Nature ALWAYS corrects herself.
The World ALWAYS Purges Itself Of False Leaders
Study history and you will know it to be TRUE.
Study a volatile industry and look to where the stability is and you
will see THE CODE behind what you seek.
What you do with that is up to you but let me leave you with this:
Proverbs 8:10-11
10 Choose my instruction instead of silver,
knowledge rather than choice gold,
11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.

True leaders inspire
True leaders don't try to put people down for following in their footsteps.
How on earth could you be a "success coach" who puts people down for actually doing the things it takes to be successful?
You tell people:
"Do this, this and that -- this is how you be successful."
But what happens when they do it, huh?
You prefer they stick around like some groupies and continue to:
a) pay you
b) inflate your ego.
Since the world purges itself of false leaders, your time will come soon enough.
I, on the other hand, welcome the chance to help people do more, be more, achieve more.
NOTHING will stop me.
I was born a leader -- and no one will tell me when my time will come, what my limits are, and who I should bow down to.
I create my own path, I learn by doing, and I encourage people to do the same.
Time will tell what your method of putting people down does for you and your business.
This Is Where The Confusion Lies
You said:
How on earth could you be a "success coach" who puts people down for actually doing the things it takes to be successful?
The confusion lies in what most people think they should be doing to become successful.
That is exactly where the idea for the post came from.
Watching many many people make that error.
People who seek to out smart nature and universal law are not correct in their thinking
People who seek to advance to GO and collect $200 without going around the board are mistaken.
And if you read the article again in a while
After your anger subsides.
After you stop taking a generic article personally
You will possibly come to see that it is just common sense Derek.
One can not learn to be a champion without sitting and studying with champions (whichever ones you choose is up to you...not for me to say-only YOU know who can mentor YOU)
But to assume that one is a colleague to a mentor after 90 days is kinda weird.
Or to assume that one who has made money for a month or two can charge thousands for a class or a teleseminar or a DVD set or whatever...well that is bound to backfire.
I have watched it for years so I wrote about it.
First year medical students don't get to sit in on surgery with a master surgeon...
Very few freshman play first string and certainly not in the first semester...
And young marketers do not get to go to 10 year experienced marketers and say...Help me fill up my class--I'll pay you 30%
Kinda kooky looky if you ask me.
PAYING IT FORWARD is about human beings...NOT MONEY
Go ask anyone who has successfully been in the industry for 10 years or more.
It is about LOVE and RESPECT for others...upline...downline..crossline and mentor.
The long term money--The LEGACY money comes out of that.
YOUR ACTIONS TODAY -> CREATE TOMORROW!
I don't think I have EVER seen a true LEADER
(or wanna be "leader") EVER - EVER spitefully make
accusations or put other people down in public
forums or on person blogs.
I can only picture a 4 year old little boy saying
"I want my way - I will NOT wait for it - give me, give me
give me.. now, now, now"
and maybe holding his breath (dramatic effect, ya know)..
When I read this: "I was born a leader -- and no one will tell me when my time will come, what my limits are, and who I should bow down to."
HOLY CRAP batman!
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
THE world will NEVER agree.
But, if anyone considers themselves to be a leader,
they had better LOOK real hard in the mirror
and picture THAT one person they ADMIRE...
and BE ABLE TO SAY "I behaved as you would have"
YOUR ACTIONS TODAY -> CREATE TOMORROW!
Diane,
Your words were DEAD on. BRAVO!!!
Yes this is good
Yes this is good, I can see this. It's hard not to get caught up in doing it until you are shown something else.
I don't hold it against wannabe's for doing it. I think it's just part of the education process.
I am a very talented drummer. I have played for over 35 years and have done a lot of work and taught a lot of other drummers. I don't consider them wannabe's who are just starting out trying to make a name for themselves.
It's just part of the process and while they respect me for my skill and knowledge, I respect them for at least having a go and trying to achieve something.
Does that make sense at all?
This is what holds people back
You've made some money online, so you sit at your bully pulpit and tell other people that they haven't accomplished much so they shouldn't go out and teach what they DO know.
That's complete and utter bullshit.
And I'm speaking for everyone out there who "hasn't accomplished much" in your (humble) opinion.
It's not about where you're at, it's about where you're going.
If it truly is about human beings for you, Diane, then you wouldn't put people down for going for their dreams.
HEY, Greg ;)
YES!!
I totally agree.
It's not "fake it till you make it.."
It's more like "Act as if (you are already that person you want to be).. and go as though (you have already made it)."
YOU need to mimic or mock, THAT person you admire
or want to "be like" I TOTALLY agree.
NO ONE should ever be "held back" from their dreams.
But, I don't think as soon as a baby bird is born,
it's mama should push it out of the nest.
IT needs time to grow and be nourished.
SOME just want to fly too soon..
NOT that the baby shouldn't mimic it's mama,
and WANT to fly..but think about it..
even if mama said "OK, JUMP" (before they were
ready..) what would happen?
GET OUT AND DO WHAT YOU LOVE.. YES.
But I think MOST in this industry (maybe not drummers) ((smiles)),
want to FLY and take on MORE than they can really handle..
THEY want to go TOO fast..
Think about it.. a race car driver doesn't start out
learning how to drive at 212 mph..
they work up to it.. but they continue to DRIVE ;)
LOVE your comment ;)
Yes Kim...
Yeh you got it.
I think it's great to see all these people doing it. What a real leader should do then is reach out to these people and say "hey I see what you are doing & I like it, can I help".
True leadership lifts others up. It doesn't ridicule or put down to exalt itself.
Lineage and Pedigree ?
Come on Diane, I agree with many, actually most of your comments about respect and the amount of bull that is out there but Lineage and Pedigree? Sorry but that does not cut it for me. Personally I respect everyone until they give me a reason to think otherwise. Yes, these "false leaders" as you call them lose that respect very quickly. Having said that your implication that people should bow at the feet of you and others who have "made it" is a bit much. Let's not forget that most "upline leaders" are being paid by their downlines so so yes, upline does owe them something. Respect must go both ways or it does not exist at all. I too have been around this block for a long time and the fact that many of the so called leaders of the industry have treated people as disposable annoyances is also a cancer. Now, just for the record, I am not angry. I just thought you came across pretty disrepectful yourself but maybe that's just me.
By the way Derek, Everyone is born a leader. We are also born followers. The really wise know when to lead and when to follow. I wish you well my friend.
Let Me Clarify
Hey Bob,
When I spoke about lineage and pedigree I was talking about in the old days when we existed in individual companies and not in the wide world of the internet
Today that would be people one studies and mentors with.
For example...
Can anyone tell me Mike Dillard's lineage and pedigree?
It's pretty extensive and he did in fact sit at the feet of the masters that went before he created his own products.
He studied for YEARS.
Notice his first recruiting product was created with his recruiting teacher..not alone as he knew at the time his teachers documentation was stronger than his.
****************************
Here's some copy from the Blackbelt Recruiting site:
Then one day (by fate or just "dumb luck") I met the man who network marketing insiders call MLM's top "super recruiter."
A man so brilliant at sponsoring over the phone... many of today's six and seven figure network marketers call him...
The "Guru's Guru"
Of Phone Sponsoring.
No joke.
This man has taught thousands of network marketers how to eliminate their fear of talking to prospects, and sponsor hundreds of reps per year without ANY rejection or high pressure selling.
He himself routinely sponsors as many as 25+ people a month into his own MLM business (even with an average start up cost of $800!) And he is legendary among network marketing insiders for building an organization of 10,000 distributors in less than 2 years.
Anyway, this man's name is Mark Wieser and, when he agreed to let me listen in on some of his sponsoring calls, I almost couldn't believe what I heard.
**************************
If you study Mike...
And I use him as he is the MOST VISIBLE EXAMPLE of what my article is about...
he constantly refers to his teachers and pedigree...thanks his mentors and had read every book in this industry, studied every major player and created small scale marketing systems and recruiting hundreds and hundreds of people BEFORE he decided to go out and create a large scale system.
If you have not seen it...go beg someone to borrow their copy of MLM System Formula and hear him tell the story.
He began with HAND CREATING "replicated sites that he charged $10 for and then branched into a modestly priced book and from that continued to build and grow his empire to what it is today...
Every step of the way honoring those that walked before him and those who taught him so he could develop his own teaching platform...one that has impacted thousands.
I mean jessh...even at the end of 2009 Mike took the time to write a letter thanking his mentors.
So that is what lineage and pedigree is today.
Go watch Frank Kern...he does it...
Go listen to Andy Jenkins...
Eben Pagan honors a teacher every other word out of his mouth and features one of his teachers at almost all of his seminars.
Check out Mark Hoverson who everyone is buzzing about.
It's a common denominator among Kings and Queens and the other one is DOCUMENTATION.
Everyone who has gone the distance has LONG TERM DOCUMENTED RESULTS.
Not "I recruited 24 people using article marketing--Pay me $500 for a webinar" before the technique doesn't work anymore.
I agree Bob...everyone is born a leader
But trying to beat the game by charging big money before the study and documentation of RESULTS is a recipe for disaster and decline.
This is not negative...
It just is what it is.
Find me a person who has sustained large income for a LONG TIME (years) who does not practice this.
Ain't seen it yet.
Everyone should begin to teach right from the get go...
You teach forward so you possess the topic of study...
Absolutely...
But to charge big money for something that has no documentation as many try to do today guarantees doom.
Meet me in 3 years and I'll buy you a root beer and we can peruse who is still here...who went big and imploded and who never got out of the gate.
It would be a fun date to book :)
And an eye opener to those who have not picked up these universal laws that govern success in our industry.
We are all born leaders
"By the way Derek, Everyone is born a leader. We are also born followers. The really wise know when to lead and when to follow. I wish you well my friend."
I totally agree, Bob.
That was actually my point -- we are all born leaders, it's in there somewhere. And I choose NOT to follow people who spew negativity into the world.
Thanks for the well-wishes.
I'll Bring the Root Beer
Hi Diane,
Once again, I agree with most of your observations. I do have respect for proven leaders and I get what your saying there. I also agree that most of what is out there today is of little or no value.
Yes, I have been following Mike for quite a while now and I am pretty familiar with Frank Kern and many others. My point is it takes a lot more than that.
"Here's some copy from the Blackbelt Recruiting site:
Then one day (by fate or just "dumb luck") I met the man who network marketing insiders call MLM's top "super recruiter."
So is Mike saying we need to be just plain lucky or wait for fate to step in? I hope not. Actually it was Mike's persistance and being open to learning new ideas that brought him success. He created his "fate" by doing that.
At this point I have had a lot of teachers in my life, some good, some bad. I respect the good ones and credit them. The bad ones I try not to lose any sleep over, they are not worth it.
One final thought. There has never been a great teacher that did not write a bad lesson plan from time to time. They are human and they occasionally make mistakes. They deserve our respect and admiration, not worship.
Have a great day.
The World ALWAYS Purges Itself Of False Leaders
Diane is totally CORRECT, it does! Especially business leaders. The corrupt kind who lead people along and take their money but offer nothing in return. Leaders who really care about others are few and far between. Diane cares more than most and it's only after you have been through the grinder that you can really appreciate what a really good leader is. Some people are natural leaders and others perfer to follow guides.
Ever been mountain climbing ... Edmund Hilary who conquered EVEREST did so with a LOCAL GUIDE who he followed to show him the way, yet Edmund Hilary took most of the credit when really it was his guide who should have taken the credit.
Diane is a great leader and we do well to follow her to the top of everest. WHY because she has conquered that mountain before.
Love you D
