What Business are We In?

I always get a kick out of new Distributors when I share this with them. The Question I ask is “what business are we in?” Of course the answers are usually along the sales or marketing line. Right, we sell a product, that is how we make money, in MLM, no volume, no check. It is not how many people, as much as it is how much product is moved. And of course the more people, hopefully the more product moves and it creates bigger checks. Right?

Oh yes, that is right. But what business are we in? And this is a generic question. Well I will not drag this out. We are in the “Leadership Training and development business. Yup! We are looking to create, develop Leaders. In MLM if you have no leaders under you, you will never get to the place of freedom.

Here is the path; you become a good student, so you can teach. You become a good teacher so you can lead. You become a good leader so you will have good students. And someday those students lead and you my friend are free.

Yes, we sell products, and those products are moved by people, who are well trained and excited to do it. This is what even MLM Companies fail to understand. Leaders are worth their weight in gold. You cannot hire them (some companies try). They are the ones that drive the business, that moves the volumes, that creates the checks.

Shift your thinking to Leadership and not sales, You only need a few key people to be free. Investing in others is what will pay you more than trying to boost your sales or even the numbers of Distributors. Leaders have very little trouble building organizations. It is a byproduct of what they have to teach others that builds big business.

So what business are you in? You decide. We all need to be good Students. And we have a responsibility to be good Teachers, Leaders, and show people how to truly become free.  Our freedom comes as a result of creating leaders, not volume.
