Your Role as a Mentor

Read More: Leadership

As promised here in part two of the article (part one being 'Difficulties Newbies Faced in their Online Business')- I will write about what you can do as a mentor to ensure your new team member is active and remains active within their online home business, therefore making you lots of ongoing residual income.

You may be new to this online business yourself. You have only just started your online business when you have managed to enroll another person into your team, and you are then expected to mentor them right away. First of all Congratulations, you are now on your way to becoming a LEADER. However, you begin to panic as you have not been doing this for a long time, and don't feel you have the confidence or experience to mentor your new team member. Well I hope this article gives you some guidance on small things you can do to ensure you mentor your new team member appropriately.

Communication / Introductions

  • It is your new team members first few days since joining up. Have you contacted them in the last 24 - 48 hours? As a mentor that is one of the first things you must do.
  • Build rapport with your new team member.
  • Leave them your contact information so if they need / want to contact you with any queries or questions they can. It is important that your new team member feels that they can call you when they feel stuck, or have additional questions they may not have remembered when you last spoke.

What is their WHY?

  • Find out their WHY? Their reason for looking / partnering up with your company. If you understand what their WHY is, you can use this maybe when you need them to 'focus' on their business goals. Sometimes we lose track of our objectives in life, until someone draws us back to out reasons why we wanted those goals in the first place.

What are their expectations?

  • What are their expectations for running their home business opportunity- remember if they are set too high initially, you need to quickly reset their expectations on a more realistic level, based on the amount of time they are willing to invest in their business, and the amount of money for advertising. Remember, the new team member is taking their ideals from the testimonials and income plan they have seen, and without regard to the various backgrounds of those that made the testimonials, no two people are alike, and the income testimonials are not guaranteed.

Great Job!

This is a great article. I really think that finding out the WHY in our downline truly is a major key to being a mentor.
