Learn My Secrets To A Successful Career In Business and Life
In my last post on ‘If You Want To Be Successful In Your Career or Business Then You Must Adapt Successful Habits’ I mentioned that I would like to discuss several secrets of success that I implement daily which allows me to achieve the results I want in my life.
There are a number of secrets to success and if you practice them over time your success is virtually guaranteed.
However, if you fail to practice them, then your success in any field of endeavor will be cut short. And if you do succeed without daily, weekly, monthly practice you will be far below of what your true potential is.
To clarify if you do certain things you become a certain type of person. And if you become that certain type of person you will achieve certain type of results.
So, the first success principle is that you must have clear written goals. There was a study done at Harvard University in 1979 with the graduates of their MBA program. They ask them how many of them had clear, written goals and made plans to accomplish them when they left the university? They found that 84% of them had no goals at all. 13% of them surveyed had goals, but did not have them written down. The other 3% had clear, written goals and had detailed plans to achieve them.
They followed up on these students ten years later in 1989 and asked them how much they were earning in their professions. They found out that the 13% who had goals, but did not write them down were earning twice as much as the 84%, who had no goals at all. The 3% who had goals and plans to achieve them were earning 10 times as much as the other 97%. Based on this study it shows that if you don’t have clear, specific, written goals you are really limiting your earning potential throughout your life.
The next principle is once you know what you want to achieve then you must create some detailed plans to achieve them. This is just a list of activities that you feel might assist in you achieving your goals. Now to determine your list of activities you can start asking questions like what are some of the obstacles I will have to overcome in order to achieve my goals? What knowledge and skills will I have to acquire? Realize that before you can have something, that you never had before then you’ll have to become somebody, you’ve never been before. Also, another question you can ask is whose help you will need, because nothing of great value has ever been achieved alone.
The above mentioned success principles are just a couple I would like to mention here. My upcoming articles will include more success principle that are key to becoming successful in your field of work.

More Secrets To A Successful Career in Business and Life
This is a continuation of my article on ‘Learn My Secrets To A Successful Career In Business and Life’
My previous post I left off on the principles of creating detailed plans to achieve your goals. Once you have a list of activities to create your plan then it’s time to organize/prioritize them by priority. The one key question you should always ask yourself prior to starting an activity is ‘What is the most valuable use of my time’? The Pareto principal says 80 of your results will come from 20% of your activities. This simply means that 20% of all your activities will produce the greatest value to your results in business and life. Just by setting goals, creating the plans, and organizing/prioritizing your plans, you move yourself into the top 3% of people in this world.
The next principle is your creativity and imagination. If you keep on doing the same thing over and over, then you will continue to get the same results. I you want different results then develop the habit of trying something new for the rest of your life. This will insure, along with the other principles, you get to the top of your career. Take some quiet time every single day and ask yourself ‘How can I do this differently or make it better, faster, and cheaper?’ Statistics show that if you just embrace one new idea it could propel you and your organization ahead 5 years because you simply implemented it faster than your competitors.
In my next post I will talk about other success principles including continuous learning, a positive mental attitude (PMA) and persistence.
“Self-discipline means having the ability to make yourself do what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not.”
