The Little Grandma That Could…

When I was a little girl, one of my favorite Little
Golden Books was The Little Engine That Could.

I read and re-read it over and over. And I
remember thinking the little engine was scared
that it wasn’t going to make it to the top of
the hill.

But the message of that story embedded itself in my
mind, and somehow became “I KNOW I can!” in the
middle of me.

It’s that KNOWING that has always urged me forward
despite challenges, setbacks and the passing of time.

You see, I’ve been in the home business/direct sales
industry a long time and have seen my share of success…
and failure.

But the main thing is, what I’ve learned over the years
has been invaluable.

Driven by that sense of knowing that I had a purpose
I’ve learned:

• What works and what doesn’t.

• Patience and determination.

• Discipline and commitment.

• Perseverance and consistency.

• It’s about ME…NOT my mentor, upline or company affiliation
  (AKA the answer is not outside me)

• Most importantly, that HOW I THINK IS KEY

I came face to face a long time ago with the fact
that I don’t even know what I don’t know…

And so I study.

I read tons of books, attend webinar trainings and
teleconferences, and sit at the feet of my mentors,
absorbing all I possibly can (and taking notes!).

Not so surprisingly, the more I learn, the more I
learn that I need to learn.

Understand that when I first started marketing online
just three years ago, I knew little more than how to
send an email and attach pictures of my grandchildren

Although I was DETERMINED to make this “online thing”
work, some of the technology confused and yes, even
scared me a little.

I spent HOURS looking for the answers to “simple”
questions that are now second nature to me.

What I’ve discovered in the process is that tiny
little tricks here and there add up to making a
BIG difference

(You know, that “the whole is greater than the sum
of its parts” concept)

As a result, people all over the WORLD know my name,
checks arrive in my mailbox almost daily, and I just
returned from a FREE Caribbean cruise!

For me, however, the best part is the lifestyle it’s
made possible for me.

And I don’t mean big fancy houses, flashy cars and
closets full of designer clothes…although there’s
NOTHING wrong with those things!

It’s having the freedom to be home to care for my
elderly mom.

It’s not having to beg someone for time off to go on a
trip (or a doctor’s appointment, for that matter).

It’s hanging out with the leaders of the industry who
KNOW me and call me their friend.

But most of all, it’s not laying awake at night, staring
into the darkness, TERRIFIED cause we don’t have the
money we need to survive.

Now, many years and eleven grandchildren later, it’s
my mission to give back to this industry all that I
possibly can…ESPECIALLY those who think it’s
“too hard” or “too scarey”.

I AM  “The Little Grandma That DID“  and so can YOU!
