The more I study this industry, the more I see that it is not really as complicated as most people think. But in a bid to overdo themselves, a lot of mlm newbies make some unnecessary mistakes that are plain avoidable. They trap themselves unnecessarily.
I was rereading a random chapter in ‘Your First Year in Network Marketing’ few days ago and I had to nod my head repeatedly when Mark Yarnell said that our business is all about inviting people to the solutions it provides and leaving them to make their choice.
There is also so much lack of training in this industry, or let me say that so many reps are not trained properly, that certain practices that look justifiable on the surface is actually responsible for the struggles of a lot of people in this awesome industry.

#1 Trap Most MLM Newbies Fall into
I have seen a lot of new network marketers build themselves a library all in a bid to understand the nuts and bolts of this industry.
Listen, the library does not pay you in your network marketing business opportunity. People spend too much time in the library studying versus prospecting. When they don’t do too well in prospecting either because they lack that belief or talk too much, they run back to the library and begin learning every network marketing, and nowadays internet marketing, concept they can lay their hands on.
Often the mere fear and anticipation of rejection will keep new networkers at home. Fear of getting started is one of the primary causes of failure in our industry. It is an obvious but unspoken phenomenon. New marketers will hide behind the need to study the products more, or attend a few more meetings, watching how you do it over and over again, even though they’ve already see it ten times.
They will gladly attend training meetings and webinars after training meeting and webinars, invest time in their new business by listening to audiotapes on how to prospect and overcome objections, and generally do anything and everything possible to avoid actual prospecting. They will become involved in all manner of unproductive activities just to avoid having to, in the words of the great Nike, “Just do it!”
Then after days, weeks, and sometimes even months of such busywork, they will decide that this business just doesn’t work. After all, they haven’t succeeded in building an organisation.
The reason is clear to everyone except them. The mere anticipation of rejection leads to ‘call reluctance’, which can and often does lead to failure.
If you want to do well in this industry, go out into the field and perform. This is not to say that you will not study and read, but NEVER use it as an excuse for not taking action.
