3 Disempowering Words You Should Never Think

Read More: Mindset

I wonder if you know what the most disempowering words are that you can think or say? These words will close your mind to learning and stop your progress in its tracks. The moment you say these words it could set you on a path to destruction. So what are these words? The three little words I’m talking about are, “I KNOW THAT”

Never be frightened of listening or being curious. Those that close their minds usually fear that they somehow will lose control or not get their way. You need to be a critical thinker and be able to evaluate anything you hear. So you do not need to be afraid of listening, you may well learn something that will greatly enhance your life. If we are learning then we are growing, if we are not learning we stop growing and we die.

So let me ask you this, if someone is willing to take the time to share some knowledge with you then make a decision to really listen.

Listen without

  • an agenda
  • thinking about how to respond
  • an emotional attachment to the outcome

If you do this will may well find an opportunity to help that person. You will certainly encourage them for they will know that they have been heard.

Would you not want the same treatment if you had something to share?

There is no doubt...

...what you say is true: "you may well learn something that will greatly enhance your life."

I don't know who said it, but I have always loved this -- "He who believes he knows everything, know nothing." It sounds like wisdom from a fortune cookie! Still... truth is truth. Thanks, Graham, for adding value to my day.
