7 Faith Principles That Will Lead You To Success
Have you ever sat next to someone on an airplane or maybe in a bar who droned on and on about his/her troubles, telling you every little detail about what has gone wrong in his/her life? And instead of using the bad experiences to prove that they've overcome their obstacles, they leave you with that sinking feeling that nothing is ever going to change for them?
I had one such experience today, where a man had just finished his graduate degree program in teaching only to find that instead of getting the expected pay raise he had been promised, he had gotten an unexpected pay decrease. Disillusioned and frustrated, this man continued to complain about his said job where he worked long hours teaching dispassionate kids about the mystery of science and how his wife and kids were beginning to suffer the consequences of his ill-fated circumstances. As I listened intently and compassionately, I couldn't help but wonder if this man had the capability to get past his immediate financial setback and use it as an opportunity to open new doors for himself, or if he would choose to remain where he was, feeling trapped and under appreciated.
If you have ever been where this man is, you know that sinking feeling that sets in when an expectation is lost and any hope of regaining the rewards once cherished are all but crushed in the wake of bad news. All the dreams once dreamt hammer at your subconscious demanding to be reawakened, only to remind you again that 'life sucks' or 'isn't fair' because it seems as if your dreams will never come to pass. In response to this man's dilemma, I have decided to write what I believe is needed in order to lead anyone (including you) out of the pit of despair and into the realm of success.
7 Faith Principles That Will Lead You To Success
1) Be Humble
"But the humble will inherit the land and will delight themselves in abundant prosperity." (Psalm 37:11 – New American Standard Bible)
When the cares of your life are crushing down on you, be humble. Don't let the weight of your worries break you. Bend a little. Talk about it with your closest friends (and maybe even a stranger or two) but don't let it blind you to the blessings in your life. Use your circumstances to challenge you to think of new ways to earn an extra income. Take on a side job. Read a book about mindset. Extend your immediate plans and goals to six months from now, but never lose sight of those dreams and plans. Read your Bible. Believe in humility. Embrace it. It's going to cause you to 'inherit the land' and delight in 'abundant prosperity'.
2) Trust
'Trust in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper." (Psalm 37:3 – New Living Translation)
People sometimes have a difficult time trusting, myself included. Past hurts, painful life lessons, costly mistakes – all have a tendency to make us jaded and bitter. Fight that bitterness with trust.
Stephen M. R. Covey has written in The SPEED of Trust: The One Thing That Changes Everything that:
There is one thing that is common to every individual, relationship, team, family, organization, nation, economy, and civilization throughout the world – one thing which, if removed, will destroy the most powerful government, the most successful business, the most thriving economy, the most influential leadership, the greatest friendship, the strongest character, the deepest love.
On the other hand, if developed and leveraged, that one thing has the potential to create unparalleled success and prosperity in every dimension of life. Yet, it is the least understood, most neglected, and most underestimated possibility of our time.
That one thing is trust.
Trust impacts us 24/7, 365 days a year. It undergirds and affects the quality of every relationship, every communication, every work project, every business venture, every effort in which we are engaged. It changes the quality of every present moment and alters the trajectory and outcome of every future moment of our lives – both personally and professionally.
Contrary to what most people believe, trust is not some soft, illusive quality that you either have or you don't; rather, trust is a pragmatic, tangible, actionable asset that you can create – much faster than you probably think possible.
While corporate scandals, terrorist threats, office politics, and broken relationships have created low trust on almost every front, I contend that the ability to establish, grow, extend, and restore trust is not only vital to our personal and interpersonal well-being; it is the key leadership competency of the new global economy.
I am also convinced that in every situation, nothing is as fast as the speed of trust. And contrary to popular belief, trust is something you can do something about. In fact, you can get good at creating it!
So start getting good at creating trust.
3) Win the Respect of Others
"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody." (1 Thessalonians 4:11 – 12, New International Version)
One of the most beloved and respected authors in the world of entrepreneurialism has built his multi-million dollar business around the above scripture verse. 'Make it your ambition to…mind your own business…'
You can read an excerpt from his book here.
4) Seek Truth
"And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened." (Luke 11:9-10 – New Living Translation)
Did you know that when we ask ourselves questions like, 'why am I so rich?' or 'why am I so well liked?' or 'why do I have such a growing and successful business?' that our mind immediately begins to seek the answer to those questions, formulating ways to turn those questions into reality? So what if we're not any of those things yet. So what if we do not possess those qualities yet. The doors begin to open, and we begin to receive that which we are trying to obtain. These questions, which Noah St John calls afformations, are the groundbreaking tools that allow us to cultivate greatness in our lives. So instead of asking, 'why do bad things always happen to me?' or 'why do I always get the short end of the stick?', etc., start asking yourself those questions that will lead to positive, abundant results instead of negative, doubting results. 5) Be an Overcomer
"He who overcomes will inherit all this…" (Revelation 21:7 – New International Version)
Friend, I know that sometimes the circumstances of your life may seem bleak. Your days may be filled with darkened clouds of self-doubt and your endless nights may be worry filled and sleepless. I know how that is because I've been there. I've been there and said to myself, 'things can't get worse than this', but then they did. I've lain in bed nights on end paralyzed by fear and dread of the coming day, knowing I did not have the strength and coping skills to face the new dawn. Intimidated by my own shadow, I was frightened at every turn, lost in my own sea of bewilderment. For years, I dwelt in the valley of the despondency, relinquishing my right to succeed as a human being. But let me tell you this: He who overcomes will inherit all this… What is all this? A new heaven. And a new earth. A new body. And a new life. Newness. Period. So I admonish you. Be an overcomer. You can do it. It will happen. Even if it takes a little time.
6) Live Victoriously
"Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will preserve me against the anger of my enemies. You will clench your fist against my angry enemies! Your power will save me. The LORD will work out his plans for my life– for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever." (Psalm 138: 7 – New Living Translation)
The Lord will work out His plans for my life.
Say this again.
The Lord will work out His plans for my life.
Now say: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Again.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Doesn't that just make you feel better?
7) Create Positive Energy
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." (Genisis 1:1 – English Standard Version)
According to Maria Boomhower, a master communicator who holds a Diploma in the Art of Applied Communication, in her article Use Your Vibrations of Energy to Communicate:
The studies now being done in the neurosciences have shown that thoughts are biochemical and electrical. They are real things. And that our mind is photons of light held in an electromagnetic field.
We as electromagnet beings of energy give off and pick up energy when we interact with other people. And there is a fundamental need in us to connect with one another.
The studies have also shown that we see the world not as it is, but as we are. And when we go to connect or communicate with another person, it is based on our assumptions, beliefs, values, attitudes and intentions. The success or failure of the connection will be based on much of this.
There is also a need to have our external world match our internal world and a person will often sabotage what is before them if it doesn’t match their inner belief systems.
At the quantum level we are all connected and we tend to attract people at the same frequencies that we are. This can be the frequencies of our attitudes, beliefs or feelings at the moment.
Because our brain wants to seek out information that matches its belief system, it will attract other people, places, events and situations that coincide with that belief. We send out a vibration, which is attracted to the same frequencies.
If you have heard the saying, “Birds of a Feather, Flock together”, you can understand the basis of the science. Before modern times with media and advertising, people of the same mindset found each other.
This is why so many of us get trapped in remaining at a level that we don’t want to be. We are attracting the same types of people, events and situations into our lives.
To change this, it is important to change the way you communicate with yourself. Look at what you are telling yourself. What are the attitudes that you are repeating. If you state that it is a hard, cruel world, that is what you will manifest in your world. Subsequently, if you state that there are wonderful and helpful people, you will find them.
It is important to tell and train your self to be open to learning new ideas and thoughts. We need to change our vibration level and then communicate with others at a higher level.
Through modern equipment, science has seen the different vibrations that we are projecting.
Negative emotions are long and slow.
Positive emotions shorter and faster.
Resentments, road rage, etc, create low frequency vibrations.
This creates inability to create your desires.
However, quantum physics has also shown us the we have the amazing power to change our lives.
Now, do you think the man I listened to today could have used these 7 Faith Principles That Will Lead You To Success that I just outlined?
I do!
Sadly, though, I was not able to encourage him in the way I've set out to encourage you today, BUT I'm going to be kind enough to believe that after the immediate effect of his bad news wears off, he will soon come to realize that he can use this opportunity for growth and newness.
After all, isn't there always a rainbow after the rain?
