97% Failure Rate - Another Load Of Network Marketing BS
Really? You mean that the 97% failure rate in network marketing is a myth? A lie?
Just not true?
Well, not exactly.
It's true that most people fail in network marketing. The reason I say it's BS is because most of the time when you hear someone talk about it, they're really just saying that YOU will fail. That is, unless you sign up for their lame-ass 7 day network marketing "bootcamp".
"Bootcamp?" Gimme a break!
I've been to bootcamp. It kinda sucks. But it does have it's good points. For instance, you lose weight even if you're not fat. On the other hand, you're always getting yelled at. Which is sorta like being married, for some.
The truth is that most people will fail at most things. In fact, you've probably failed the first time you tried most things. The only way you get better is to stick with it long enough to learn from your mistakes. To do that, you need one of 2 things.
1) Determination to succeed regardless of the cost
2) No way out. Meaning you can't quit. A better way to say it is that it would be more painful for you to quit than to keep going.
Ever seen the movie Alien vs. Predator?
Maybe that's not your kind of movie. Doesn't matter.
There's a scene near the beginning of the film where the heroine is on a plane flying out to a remote area of Antarctica. Or maybe the Arctic. Anyway, it's cold.
The pilot looks back over his shoulder and shouts "We just passed the PSR!"
It turns out that PSR is an acronym for Point Of Safe Return. In other words, they can no longer turn back. They don't have enough fuel to return to safety. Whatever happens, they are now fully committed to their course because there's nothing they can do but go forward.
Do or die. No way out. You make it or you don't.
You're ALL IN.
Pretend your mother will die if you don't gross over $1,000,000 within 5 years. That's the kind of commitment you need.
THE REASON THAT MOST PEOPLE FAIL IN NETWORK MARKETING IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT CROSSED THEIR OWN PSR.
They are always holding on to their past, "Just In Case". And that's what kills them.
If you don't set yourself up so that you can't possibly go back to where you were, you'll never give 100% to your business. Because some of your effort will be diverted to maintaining the bridge back to mediocrity.
Of course, once you've scurried back to the safety of obscurity in the bleak outback of wherever you started, you'll start in with all the excuses why you didn't succeed.
And let's not forget the mantra of all losers everywhere "At least I tried!"
Big deal. You tried.
Remember what Yoda said. "You do, or do not. There is no try."
So don't worry about the 97% failure rate. That's not gonna happen to you. Wanna know why? Because you're gonna come up on your PSR, take a deep breath, and leap.
That's when the fun really begins.
Besides, you don't want to let your mother down, do you?

Good points Dave
You're right about people barely getting into their business and never really going full speed ahead. If only we had a way of getting them to reach their PSR, maybe then, they would forge ahead.
Noce article Dave. i really
Noce article Dave. i really like what you sere saying about the "Try" part. That is so bang on. You have to be fully commited. You don't try to walk across the street, you do walk across the street. That is how we have to be in business as well. We are making a million in revenue. Not, let's see if I can do it.
I don't totally agree. Surprise!
Dave, while I agree that you must be completely committed in order to succeed; failure is not an option, o'k, I will give you that one too and going past the point of safe return, I am not completely convinced on that one.
Here's one for you to chew on. Most people have unrealistic expectations, they get involved thinking they are going to get rich overnight. That is not going to happen.
There does come a point where if you are truly committed to your chosen company, are passionate about the product or service and you are doing your best to DUPLICATE the training your sponsor or company is providing and you still are not making any progress at all within 6 months, then I would say it is better to quit than risk having your family live on the street.
Does this make any sense to you?
PSR Analogy
Great post Dave!
I liked the PSR Analogy.
I don't completely agree with what Chris Tryon said. If you switch the companies because you didn't make money in first 6 months, you keep jumping company to company all your life. The better option would be to commit, learn and persist until you make it happen for you. Here the PSR comes into picture again.

I said progress not money
Hi Sekhar, I said progress, not money. Success means different things to different people, although money is certainly a huge determining factor. Most of us get involved with network marketing to earn an income, not go into debt.
If you are following the systems and the training your company of choice is providing and you are still not any further ahead within 6 months, either monetarily or otherwise, then I would say that it is time to evaluate and possibly move on.
Everyone is not cut out for this kind of business. We need to be realistic in our expectations.
