Are You a Perfectionist?

Understand Perfection

There are two types of perfectionist in the world - practical and
NEUROTIC!

Here are the differences -

The practical perfectionist pays attention to details and take
time to check emails, websites and other communication for
spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc, before clicking the old
SEND button.

They strive to set a tone of professionalism and yet realize that
we are all just human and people are going to make mistakes
because no one is perfect.

They do their best and get results.

They spend the proportionate amount of time on new tasks and invest
their time moving forward.

On the other hand, neurotic perfectionists are consumed with idea
of being perfect. Often, they never really get started in their
business because they are waiting for everything to be perfect
before they start.

They want to understand every aspect of the compensation plan;
what goes into making the products; and having every part
of their presentation flawless.

They don't understand that there is no such thing as PERFECT.

When something does not go as planned, they tend to assume all
of the blame.

They are famous for thinking or saying - "I'll do it when the
time is right."  And, no surprise - The right time never comes.

They spend so much time getting ready that they never are ready.

In Twelve - Step Programs, they always say, "it's about progress not perfection!"
Exceptional business builders and entrepreneurs realize their
strengths as well as their weaknesses. They choose to focus on
their strengths and work on improving their weaknesses - making progress everyday!

They get started; they take action; they move forward.

Understand Perfection.  Better yet, forget perfection.  Make progress by taking action!

Great Post Jerry

I think this is where a lot of people get hung up. I know I did. Once I started doing things and putting things together by taking action I learned that it's really not all that bad. Do I want to do more and make it better? Of course. But I realize that if I don't do anything and just keep learning stuff I fall farther and farther behind.

Thanks for this Jerry. I think people can get quite a bit out of it. Because so many want to learn but very few actually do.

Hey Jerry, you have spoken nuggets of wisdom here. Thank you so much.
I am guilty of putting off things. Got to work on that!
You don't have to get it right, just get it going!
