Are You being kept Poor, without Knowing it?

The saying "Your income is the average of your five closest friends" is now quite cliché. But the more I study prosperity, the more I realise just how true a statement it really is.

There are places where prosperity is displayed in all of its glory. Think Monaco, St Tropez, Abu Dhabi, Las Vegas, etc.

Then there are places of extreme lack such as the slums and ghettos of Africa and India.

It amazes me to think that a person living in Monaco would have a completely different view of what's possible to a person living in a slum in Mumbai. Same animal or being, yet totally different realities.

I've always wondered about the insanity of it.

Why would anybody choose to live a life of absolute poverty and misery? What would success mean to someone who grew up with just a piece of rusty sheet metal over his head and lived off landfill?

No animal in the wild would live in such a deplorable environment, yet humans do.

Choose is the keyword. It's a choice. Not a conscious choice, but an unconscious choice.

And when you realise that it's a choice, you realise you have the power to choose, the power to change the situation.

Slums are often breeding grounds for crime, violence, gangs, drug addiction, mental illness and diseases. It's a reality created by a collective conscience of lack.

In that state of lack, you are only concerned for your own survival. People in such social environments are programmed to just survive.

The need for survival wipes out any room for prosperity in one's mind.

If you've been to Monaco, you know it's the most expensive car and boat show in the world. Prosperity comes naturally and easily to the people who live there, because that is their collective conscience.

For most people, prosperity doesn't come so easily.

That's because they don't have a clue. They have never been taught what it is. Most people have been raised to be a soldier of the socio-economic army.

Most people in the developed world have also only been taught how to survive. Albeit on a higher level. People survive by working for money, making the monthly mortgage payments, being able to put food on the table, and not much more.

It's a tragedy that this is the only possibility that they experience, that they know, in a world of infinite possibilities.

But once you realise that you've been put in a box, you can begin to look for ways to get out of it. You have a choice. You can choose a life of prosperity.

Expand your thoughts on what is possible by putting yourself in a different environment. Take a trip to the most prosperous cities in the world, and you'll instantly recognise just how small you've been thinking.

More importantly, surround yourself with people who are big thinkers. Build close relationships with them and form a collective conscience of prosperity, because this will be the biggest influence on your success.
