How To Set Goals. How many times have you set Goals or even made New Year's resolutions only to quit weeks into you endeavor?

If you have, you are not alone, in fact you belong to the 99%. Why do you suppose that is, when we all know intellectually that we want to be successful and accomplish our goals?

This is taken from Wikipedia:

" A New Year's resolution is a commitment that a person makes to one or more personal goals, projects, or the reforming of a habit. A key element to a New Year's Resolution that sets it apart from other resolutions is that it is made in anticipation of the New Year and new beginnings. People committing themselves to a New Year's resolution generally plan to do so for the whole following year. This lifestyle change is generally interpreted as advantageous. "

I'm sure you can think of at least one time in your life when you resolved to do something, and there was a feeling in the pit of your stomach that felt like NOTHING was going to keep you from this thing. You had absolute knowing within yourself that you would accomplish it, and so you did. You probably didn't talk a whole lot about it, and you may have just kept it to yourself, and just made it happen. That is resolve. That is what a resolution feels like as well as setting and reaching goals.

How to set goals effectively consists of these four elements:

1. How to set Goals? Have a Vision

What do you want to create? What do you have Passion for?

This is a far cry from “I want to lose weight, or make some extra money”. Dig deep and discover what you really want to create in your life.

You may want to create yourself a Vision Board - and put together pictures and words to portray your life as you Visualize it.

~ my passion is never to be restricted by money, to have peace of mind, good health and live a rich life of travel with homes in at least 2 countries for gathering friends and family to have fun.

2. Make your vision compelling

The thought of your vision should pull you to it with eagerness and excitement. It should wake you up in the middle of the night, and have you up early in the morning pondering it all day.

You need to be emotionally attached to your Goals - they need to pull at your heartstrings.  

A good place to start is to pull together thoughts, situations and photo's that make you FEEL - this can be exceedingly Happy, Sad, Uncomfortable, Scared, Compassionate etc.......

How to set goals from these emotions and images?

- Capture the emotion, usually the negative ones are highlighting a need to change a situation, and very often the positive ones are associated with people we love or want to help in some way. But you will know what they are saying to you.

Write them down. Read them or look at your Vision Board daily and re-visit those emotions and passions.

3. How to set Goals? Have strong reasons.

You will encounter setbacks but if your reasons are strong, then you will follow through during the tough times. You will press through to the other side to get to your vision.

Your Goals may change as circumstances and situations in your life fluctuate - just rethink, rewrite and revisit - if you do not feel emotion, then you haven't quite hit the nail on the head - work on it, the stronger your passion, the more directed and effective your goals will be.

4. Review it and feel it everyday.

Imagine It!
When you feel forward and imagine how it will feel once your vision is manifested, then you are connecting to the energy of your vision. This process helps bring your vision to fruition faster. Get in the habit of imagining your vision just as you want it to be.

Having a vision for our lives is paramount and contributes to our total well-being.

As humans, we thrive in progress and contribution. We feel good about ourselves when we progress, and when we contribute to a cause it builds confidence.
