Don't Be A Ship Without A Sail
If you look in any dictionary you will see that the word “sailboat” is most often defined as a ship that has a sail as its primary means of propulsion. If you put a sailboat out on the water and do not raise the sail, you will just end up sitting in one spot only to slowly drift wherever the ebbs and flows of the current would take you.
There are two things that would happen to you. The first is that you would have no control over where you were going. You would just drift off into “WhereEverville” and secondly, you would not be able to control how fast you get there. You could only go as fast as the currents allowed.
That whole scenario made me wonder how many people are like a sailboat without a sail.
How many people just drift through life? They live as if they have no appointed place or purpose. They just accept whatever life sends their way no matter how often life sends it.
I had to look at my own life and current mindset to see if I was in that current condition. That then led to me another question. If I am not a sailboat without a sail, then just what exactly is my sail? What is that thing on the inside of me that acts as the propulsion system of my life? And not only that, but where does my wind come from that fills the sail?
After much thought and consideration, I came to this conclusion. My sail was my goals and dreams and my wind was my will to succeed. I honestly believe that if I were missing either one of those two ingredients, then I would be living a life where I fell for anything and stood for nothing. So now I challenge you with those questions. What is your sail and what is your wind that fills your sail? Are you just a ship without a sail? Only you know the answer to that. If you are, put up your sail because you do have one and let the winds of your desires push you to your destiny.
