Everyone Wants Me, But They Won’t R.S.V.P., Will You?

Everyone wants me, desires me, even lusts after me.  Some would sell their souls just to get a taste of me, if only for one night.  But I’m no easy lay.  You see, I separate the boys from the men, the girls from women (oh yeah, I go both ways) the pretenders from the contenders.  You have to work hard to call me your own.  I will challenge you in every way and even elude you at times.  I definitely play hard to get.  However, after you’ve earned the right to call me your own, don’t get too comfortable or I won’t be around for long.  Truth is you must work just as hard if not harder to maintain me, as you did to obtain me.  So, who am I, this temptress that men and women seek? 

Well, they call me SUCCESS!

And I’m gonna share with you just how to lay claim to me.  You must simply R.S.V.P.

Read – There simply is no excuse not to know anything.  Do you really want success?  Well, pick up a book.  How many have you read in the past year or month?  You can learn anything in any niche.  Not only is it important to learn marketing strategies, but more importantly, personal development.  This must be the foundation for your business.  Reading transforms your mind and stretches your thinking.  If you’re serious about success in any industry, you can’t afford not to.

Study – Isn’t that the same as read? Well, they’re similar, but not the same.  Webster defines read as this:  to perform the act of reading words; while it defines study as this:  to read in detail especially with the intention of learning; careful examination or analysis.

Do you see the difference?

Simply reading a book does not mean that you’ve truly grasped and understood the concepts.  As human beings, the only way we learn is through repetition or study.  My sister just re-read T. Harv Ecker’s Secrets of a Millionaire Mind for the 2nd time.  She first read it about a year ago and you know what happened?  She learned more and concepts begin to jump out at her.  She started to put in action the things she didn’t do the first time.  Now why is that?  The book hasn’t changed, but she did.  The information meant something different this time because she read in detail with the intention of learning.

Not only that, but she’s in a different place in life now.  She knows more, has experienced more.  She’s been stretched, so now she sees things from a different perspective.  The same will happen with you if you study and not merely read.

Visualize – How I wish I had the literary acumen to really convey to you how important visualization is.  I know it sounds corny and cliché, but until you see it, you will never be able to achieve it.  Why do you think the greatest teachers and success in personal development teach this?  There must be something to it.  I can’t explain how it happens, but when you can see yourself in a certain place, living the life you’ve always imagined, the universe will conspire to help you get there.

So practice visualization.  Every night or whatever time works for you, just take a few moments to visualize what your perfect day will look like.  What does your perfect life look like?  Where do you live?  What do you drive?  Who are you with that day?  Where do you go?  Even better, write it down.

Prepare - Prepare on the level where you are.  You don’t get in life what you want, you get what you prepare for. Preparing indicates that you have expectation for a thing to happen.  If you don’t expect it, you won’t prepare for it and if you don’t prepare for it, it certainly won’t show up.

Let’s say that you were hosting a huge party.  What would you do?  Maybe send out invitations and according to the number of people who R.S.V.P, you’d buy food, drinks, utensils, etc.  Maybe you need to rent some chairs and tables too.  And oh my God, this carpet is filthy; I need to call Stanley Steamer. There’s a water stain in the ceiling, been there months, but now, you need to cover it up.  You’d make sure your home was in tip-top condition.

Why?  Because you’re expecting guests and because you’re expecting them, you’re preparing for them.

Success is no different.  If you expect to be successful, you sure as hell better prepare for it.  Figure out what it takes to get there and start right where you are.
