Failure is *NOT* an Option... But It Happens. Then What?

Read More: Mindset

Ya know… clichés are cliché for a reason – there are elements of truth to them.

Here’s one, “It’s not how many times you fall down but how many times you get back up.

In business and in life, it’s always those who chooses to get back up, no matter the cost, that find ultimate success, and… dare I say, happiness?  Those are the folks who rise above mediocrity – never mind the amount of ridicule and pain he may have had to endure striving to be exceptional.

The fact that he failed doesn’t phase him – he does not dwell on the failure and does not define himself by those failures.  In fact, he defines himself by how he overcomes those minor setbacks and focuses on how he can learn and grow from them.

Much power is it to the man who’s able to humble himself during those times of weakness and darkness, during those times when nothing seems to be going right and all hope seem lost.  Much power to the man who’s able to look within himself for the cause of those failings and to grow from them.

Self awareness must take place before self transformation can take place.

And believe me, we should all strive for self transformation – like a caterpillar to a gorgeous emperor butterfly – from who we are today, to somebody better tomorrow.

But also believe me this… while many of us may understand the need and desire for self transformation, few of us understand the need for self awareness – the uncanny and scary process of looking ourselves in the mirror and seeing the ugliest side of us, the side we are ashamed of, the side that’s holding us back from success, the side that’s been lying to us, that’s been hiding the ultimate truth from us.

So I implore you, when you fall, get up.  And beyond that, understand why you fell, understand what you did to contribute to that failure as opposed to looking for excuses and casting blame on other factors.  Learn from your failures, grow from them and you shall prosper.

Very True

You are right on with this article. As much as it sucks, and as painful as it can be to admit and evaluate the dark side that we all have, it is imperative that we all go through this process. Then and only then can we truly appreciate and recongnize our individual greatness. Thanks for sharing an inspiring article.

So True

Yes! This is so ture, look at Donald trump he has lost so much money and failed at so many things but you don't hear about that just what he does and makes money with.

The Power of DESIRE!

Raymond, what a powerful post!

The big shot...is the little shot that kept shooting. Napolean Hill spoke about desire being the starting point of all achievement in Think and Grow Rich and you have mentioned the other components of that mindset so very gracefully.

Thank you,

I Love This Community

Can you say perfect timing? My mentor, Ferny, and I discussed this in length just last night. BN should be a part of your daily routine. It's the person that falls down and doesn't get back up that just misses their target:) Keep on keepin on.

Absolutely

Everyone has setbacks, but not everyone grows from them. It's a choice. Thanks!

Dust Yourself Off

No one is ever down unless you say that to yourself inside. Remember to get back up, dust yourself off and turn yourself around. Every adversity is there for a reason. Look for it! Act on it! Grow from it!."Be not afraid of growing slowly,
be only afraid of standing still". --Chinese proverb

Failure and Success

These are not necessasarily opposites - failure is part of the journey along the path towards achieving goals and are just stepping stones. Life is about tasting all of its flavours.

Spot on....

It all depends on us as a person and what we think and see and smell on the inside!

Than you again Raymond!

Get up yourself or look up for some help up

Either way its better than staying down. And once your up, remember to help someone else up if they want it. You can then genuinely help.
Thanks for your help up Raymond.

It's the same old adage...

"No pain...no gain". Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back in the game as Ol' Blue Eyes would say.

When Do You Really Fail?

Powerful words, Raymond! I would like to add... with a question... 'When can you say that you have really failed?'

Everyone, and I mean everyone, hits those road blocks... in business, careers, school, relationships, sports, music, and so on... but those road blocks are not called failures. I believe you fail once you say... "I QIUIT!" or "I GIVE UP!"

It's not considered failing if you make mistakes. It is not considered failing if something does not work. We succeed not because of how many times things go right... but because of how many times we have fallen... and then got right back up again.

I like the words from NIKE... "JUST DON'T QUIT!" You will also see the words within... "JUST DO(N'T) (QU)IT!"

To Every one's Success!
Derek
