Hurricane Bill Wimped Out, You Don’t Have To
Our latest and most recent hurricane didn’t put up much of a fight but that doesn’t mean you have to.
As you may or may not know Matt and I live in Halifax Nova Scotia, which is quickly turning into a final destination for most hurricanes and tropical storms. Over the last few years we have been hit by the likes of Hurricane Juan, and plenty of other tropical storms. Now it seems that every weekend we are being threatened by another storm, most of these are turning out to be nothing more than a windy rain storm but they are proving to strike fear in our neighbors, friends and families.
Our latest storm was last weekend, Hurricane Bill. As usual it had constant coverage on the news and got most people in Halifax all worked up and prepared for the worst. It rolled up here on Sunday morning and afternoon and as usual it was a real disappointment. Now just because Bill wimped out doesn’t mean you have to.
What I mean by that is that working online there are lots of setbacks, warnings and precautions.
As far as setbacks go there are plenty. Setbacks can be defined as the amount of time and resources you spend just to get your business off the ground are incredible. Sometimes it feels like no matter how much you work and how much time you spend you will never begin to start to enjoy the perks and benefits of owning your own business.
I know of people who don’t tell their family what they really do because they are afraid of what their family will say. They are afraid they will say things along the lines of pyramid schemes, scams, and there is no easy way to make money. This is completely understandable, people are skeptics, and are afraid of the unknown. What I have learned is to just let them form their opinions and not really take what they say to heart. In the end your family is always there for you and by warning you they think they are helping you.
There are other precautions not just from your family. All over the Internet there are lots of people putting down online businesses and online marketing. What I have found is that most of these people are only putting these things on the net in hopes of you clicking on their link and stumbling upon their business or products.
It is important to form your own opinions by doing your own research. You wouldn’t buy a house without researching the neighborhood, the school systems and taking a look around so why wouldn’t you do the same with an online business?
Well now I’m off to stock up on some last minute staples, (water, batteries and beer) batten down the hatches and wait for Tropical Storm Danny to show up.
