If We Are Living In The Past Were Spoiled Brats!
We all have had from time to time our mind wander. Our subconcious mind rules us. That means whenever we are doing anything throughout our day our past thoughts creep into our mind automatically.
Our brain is a tool that is like a computer. We have files that are stored into it. They are second nature to us. Like brushing our teeth, dental flossing and going to the bathroom of course. Here lies the problem with most of us. We get carried away by listening to other peoples ideas and just listening to them just for the sake of listening to them because we consider them our friends and we want to give them whatever attention that they need. It rubs on us.
It is the same thing like a newbie in crime. When a newbie starts out in crime he hates it and can't wait to go back home and hang out with his friends and family. But when he does it over and over again, he embraces it and he does it without even thinking about the consequences. It is with him subconciously because that mind can not tell the difference between what is wrong and what is right. An obvious example of that is committing a crime is wrong. But his subconcious mind tells him okay do it.
Back to our friends. People believe a friend more than they believe what is the real answer to the question. That is a followers mentality. A leader does not do it. We need to observe the thoughts that are going into our mind and ask ourselves if we have any control over it or not and if it serves our purpose. An excellent way of doing that is asking ourselves the question so what? If it is not a valid point in our inner conversations and gets us nowhere we need to get rid of it. Otherwise we are going to be missing out on the present moment which is right now.
It is important for us to be 100% into what we are doing, not 90%, 95%, but 100%!! Because whatever is in our mind goes out of our mind into other peoples mind and bounces back no matter how. Just like you throw a ball against a wall when doing fielding practice for your next stickball game.
Lets say we are dealing with a negative situation that we are out of luck and are really unable to find and exit strategy. We have to accept it for what it is and picture our perfect day. So that we should not get bogged down into it. Think about the families who have committed themselves to living in Israel for the rest of their lives and never want to get away from there. When I was in Israel back in May of 2001 there was a bombing in Netanya and we were heading towards our hotel right off the beach getting ready for the Jewish Shabbat. The bombing happened in the mall and people in the city did not delay any of their routine activities nor whatever evening activities that they had because of it. They just went about going their business. For instance kids rode their bicycles and basketball games were in session.
Here in the US we would freak out over issues that are minor compared to that. However, here is the solution to our imaginary dillemas. If we can not learn from the Israelis how to discipline ourselves and get rid of any of the 7 negative emotions in our mind, including fear, we are spoiled adults! End of story.
