Mindset of a Network Marketer
What is your Why?
Why are you interested in starting a home based business? Why are you interested in network marketing? Why are you trying to learn how to position yourself on the internet to provide a product or service? These are the questions you must ask yourself so at the end of the day, when things aren’t looking good or your morale is down, you must ask yourself, why am I doing this? Your answers, whatever it may be, should give you the motivation to continue. This is the type of mindset you must have and frame yourself to have, so that when times get tough, you’ll know the answer and will continue through it.
Personally, my why’s are family related. I have a young boy who I’d like to provide for. I want to make sure he has the things I never had growing up. I want to ensure that his future will be setup so he can have unlimited possibilities. I want to open up doorways for him so he has a variety of choices to walk through and he can choose his own path. At the end of the day, it’s all about him. That is MY why.
A very interesting quote was brought to my attention after watching a DVD about building a business.
“Nobody who bought a drill actually wanted a drill, they wanted a hole. Therefore, if you want to sell drills, you should advrtise information about making holes, NOT information about drills.”
-Perry Marshall
I truly believe everything all starts from a mindset. We all have different opinions about every subject there is in life. It’s how we perceive the information, and then how it pertains to our lives. Don’t be too focused on just a straight, narrow path ahead. Think outside the box and put yourself in other people’s shoes. Just by shifting our mindset and thought process, we can get more out of anything. This quote makes a lot of sense to me, because when we buy things, sometimes we don’t look at the big picture.
I want to relate this mindset concept with poker. There are two trains of thought while playing poker at the table. First mindset: I’m here to win! I want to take all your money and walk away a big winner. Second mindset: I’m here not to lose. I don’t want to take risk or gamble; I want to make sure that I don’t lose any money. Between the two different mindsets, who do you think comes out the winner? NOT the person who is thinking they don’t want to lose. Already from the beginning they are expecting to lose so that is what’s going to happen, they will lose! If you shift your thoughts to, I’m here to win, then your actions will dictate that and it will put you in a better position to actually make a profit. Instead of folding a hand, you raise instead. Little changes like this make a huge difference. Before you attempt to start a new business venture, make sure you are in the right mindset so you can set yourself up for success. Have you ever changed your mindset and found it beneficial to you? It all starts with a thought so choose your thoughts carefully.
