4 Ways To Motivate Yourself In 2010 - By Jason Better
Do you know people who make "New Year's resolutions" every year and never do the slightest thing to reach them? I sure do. It seems like everybody has a "wish list" instead of a checklist. They want to quit their job, retire and spend more time with family, but they're stuck in the mud.
So today, I thought I would share four tips that really help me reach my own goals. I believe you'll like them too. Let me know what you think. :-)
4 Ways To Motivate Yourself In 2010 - By Jason Better
1 - Your "Why": You need to find your "reason why". Ask yourself WHY you want to reach your goals. Take out a piece of paper and write your reasons down. They'll keep you going when times are tough. They'll give you a reason to put up with the pain of failure, the thoughtless comments and the rejection you'll sometimes have to face.
2 - Your Pain: I think some people are just too darned comfortable with their lives to reach their goals. You know, they would rather be miserable then take a shot at their dreams. So it helps to pour salt in the wounds. Rip those stiches out and make yourself miserable.
Do you really hate your J.O.B. or life enough? Probably not! When you really hate your life enough you'll do anything to get out of it or make it better. You'll buy those books and read them twice. You'll listen to those seminars every day. You'll take a chance and act on your dreams because it's the only way out of your own personal hell.
3 - Your Coach: It also helps if someone is standing by waiting to embarass you if you don't work on your dreams. A mentor, coach, or accountability partner can be a crucial part of your success plan. If you make a public declaration of your goals, you'll be that much more motivated to reach them.
If someone is standing behind you with a whip you'll make darned sure you hold up your end of the bargain. It's called burning your ships and bridges. The only way left is forward. Through the pain to the promised land.
4 - Your List: I believe in working on your goals one at a time. Making a "hitlist" and working through each goal in turn. And I don't believe in multi-tasking.
Maybe it's just me, but I can only watch one movie at a time. I can only read one book at a time. I can only write one article at a time. I don't know about you, but I have yet to see a self-proclaimed multi-tasker do more than one important task at a time. What

It's Gotta Be Real...
Hello Jason,
Good stuff my friend! I couldn't have said it better myself, and I know a thing or two about keeping resolutions...
I've spent a lifetime running away from yesterdays and chasing tomorrows like a cat with a string. It took me many years to deal with my demons and when I finally found my 'WHY' it changed my life.
Committing to something is one thing but following through with your commitment is an entirely different monster.
It's got to be real!
For anyone to successfully break an old pattern or start a new one, It has to first be realized, then internalized, then verbalized.
Like you said, it's crucial to have support. A mentor or coach that will hold you to your 'training schedule' and push you beyond your preconceived limitations.
You are a great coach my friend, thanks.
Now, let me know what I can do for you this year. Looks like I'm gonna be around here for awhile...
Happy New Year, Jason.

Motivate Yourself in 2010
Once again, Jason, you have a great article. Yes I concur: discover WHY you want to do something and then make out your checklist. And then follow your checklist yet not do too much at one sitting. The movie analogy was excellent. Many people are truly satisfied with their lives--I am not one of them which is why I spend so much time on your site along with additional training in network marketing. With the grace of God and my diligence, I hope to attain the life that I have always dreamed of. And if I do (hopefully), I have you among other people to thank. God bless.
Hey Mitchell,
Hey Mitchell,
I can't help but be cheered by your comments.
You're right on the nail. This New Year will
bring a lot of things... here's wishing you
a good one too.
I concur...
I love that word... concur.
And thank you again for your kind wishes.
Your persistence will pay off, I have no doubt.
May the New Year bring you blessings too.
