--> The author was Ferny Ceballos. The book was “More Friends More Money”. The sentence was “I can’t tell you how much time I wasted on people who never qualified to be in business for themselves.”
Who never qualified to be in business for themselves ! I know people like that. In fact some of them were in my organization. “There are so many people that get so bogged down trying to be a servant to people who only want to be served they drain your energy.” Now he was hitting the very emotional core, the very center of what I thought I had to be, to be a good leader.
I did feel drained after some calls. I was repeating the same instructions, encouraging, supporting, directing, guiding over and over again and it ultimately got down to the point that they just weren’t doing the work.
I was constantly searching for new ways to motivate and inspire a team member to do something – anything!
Had I ever read anywhere that we are supposed to do that? Wait a minute. None of the top, successful mentors, inspirational and/or motivational authors say that, do they? What do they say?
They will tell you the cream will rise to the top.
They will tell you to focus on the activities that produce results.
They will tell you there are 3 simple things you need to do to build your business: talk to people (wherever you find them), introduce your opportunity (whichever way you’ve been taught), sign them up. Pretty darn simple. Everything else is superfluous. Pretty simple to train someone to do those steps.
They will tell you if you are not showing your business you are not growing your business.
They will tell you your success is directly proportional to what you DO.
But nowhere have I ever read or heard that you should spend your time nurturing those who shouldn’t be in your business in the first place. Ferny says “You do need to fire some of your downline ! You can’t fight ignorance ! ”
Once again it boils down to choice. You have a business that you want to grow. Should you/do you spend your time with those who deserve your attention ? or do you spend more of your time with those who don’t have a clue what desire and self-motivation is, in the hopes if you hold their hand long enough, they will eventually, magically become successful?
Steve Rodgers, made a recent comment that fits “You can’t push a rope” in reference to your downline. Click here for full comment
” … want to be served? …” You’re fired !
To your success,
