A Penguin Suit, A Dodgy Camera & Why It Can Pay To Volunteer...

You know I used hate the thought of having to stand up in front of people and speaking in public...

What do I say?

What if I make a fool of myself?

And then it slowly started to dawn on me that it really didn't matter because I made a conscious decision to have fun with it.

Now if you're one of the many people that may well be sitting, reading this thinking "How on earth can you have fun with public speaking?"

Well... Why not?

Life's too short to get wound up in all the negatives we face day-to-day. Live to experience everything you can and enjoy it..!

In my humble opinion, building a successful home business requires a certain mindset right?

And whilst we should always be looking to develop ourselves and improve, you gotta have some fun too!

So hence the picture of me in a 'Penguin Suit' at the legendary Batley Varieties in West Yorkshire (UK) last night.

Now like I said at the top, I used to hate speaking in public, and I still do in small groups, but there were over 500 people at the venue last night and I volunteered to compare the evening!

Yes, I volunteered to stand up on a stage, under professional lighting with a microphone in front of 500 people.

But you know what..?

It was great fun. Afterall, how many people get to say they've stood on the same stage as Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones right?

As Forrest Gump so eloquently commented, "Life is just like a box of chocolates..."

And that's my point.

Open a box of chocolates and taste one without checking the card that comes with them to see what's what.

Some you're going to like and some you will hate, but each one should be imprinted in your mind as an experience and it's the experiences we have throught our lives that make us who we are.

Step outside your comfort zone a few times and build a positive mindset on how it feels, then use those feelings in your quest to build a better future for yourself and your loved ones, because building any business, especially these days is not always going to be easy as...

Take pictures making a fool of yourself even with a very dodgy camera (if ever there was a reason NOT to dump your iPhone and get one of the 'Alternatives' this is it..!).

It may seem scary at the time, but get through the initial mental pain and then enjoy.

At the end of the day, when all is said and done, experience maketh a leader...

If you learn anything from all the successful guys and gals on this site and others, it's that being a Leader is key to being successful in your network marketing business.

Being able to stand up in front of 500 people on stage might not be a primary issue in the early stages of building a business, but the art of being able to communicate with people you have never met before will be, especially in network marketing.

Be proud of what you have done and use it to help others, to explain to them that sometimes you have to step outside the box.

Like the great Steve Jobs once said, "Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish..."

Now go out, volunteer for something and go have fun!
