Resolutions Are Hollow Wishes and Empty Promises, Plan For Your Success
Happy New Year!
Have you made out your resolutions?
Have you gotten this yet? I have and it irritates me.
It irritates me when people bring up resolutions. It irritates me because people must find an excuse to create a hollow wish list for the year ahead.
“This year I am going to lose weight!”
Really? Ok, how are you going to lose weight? What are you going to do to accomplish it? How much weight are you going to lose? Are you going to workout and if so how often? Are you going to change your diet and if so how are you going to change it?
Ahhh…and the blank stare or stammering of a non-descriptive response. They have no plan, simply a wish or desire with no way to get there.
The same goes for most resolutions made by people with only a wish and aimless hope that they will magically happen. The same holds true for people with their businesses. They should be in congress. Congress is great at saying things they have no solid plan of carrying out. But I digress.
For your business, since that is why we are here anyway, is instead of wishful thinking and empty resolutions, how about a plan to carry out what you want and need to achieve. What are you going to do daily, weekly, or monthly to progress and quite possibly make your business pay off so you can live the life you desire?
My suggestion, if you will allow me to give you some advice, is to sit down and map out where you want to be…no…where you WILL be a year from now. Do the patented MLM dream list or vision board or whatever you think will work for you. 365 days from today where do you want you business to be. Think big, but be realistic…make it achievable. Now work backwards to create that on a 3 month scale…3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months. Set those measurements for each cycle and each quarter.
Now wrench it down even farther. Each month, what do you need to do and what results must you have?
Now go even deeper and get down to weekly or even a daily level, what must be done consistently to hit the marks for each month, each quarter, and to get to the year end goal?
Don’t short-change your dreams for meaningless resolutions, don’t waste your new year with empty promises, and don’t dilute yourself into thinking you can’t plan out where to want to be to actually be able to get there.
Make it work by making a plan, or continue with your bosses plan for you.
