What kind of stories are they telling you?

What kind of stories do we tell ourselves?  Why is it that we choose to pick one item over another?  Is coke better than pepsi?  No wait, pepsi is better than coke right?  I’m sure you have your own decision on which one is better.  But what was the deciding factor to your pick?  Was it all based on the facts about each soda that helped you pick one over another.  Chances are it’s not because one is superior over another I mean they pretty much taste the same.  It’s really all about the stories you tell yourself and the stories that people tell you on why you choose one thing over another.  If your mind is telling you Coke is better than Pepsi what story is your mind telling you when you made that decision?  Exactly!

You know that saying “facts tell and stories sell”, well that holds much truth.  When we buy an info product you often get sold on the story that either the marketer is telling us or the story that we are telling ourselves.  When we see something that we like we will give ourselves all the right stories so that we buy something.  Often times you’ll see a sales letter with some sort of testimonial that’s about a person who might be in the same situation as you and how they went from that lifestyle into a better lifestyle based on that product.  The marketers craft great stories so we buy from them.

The reason you’ll see a lot of the top income earners earning the money they make is because they are great story tellers.  They know how to tell their story of their zero to hero.  But at the same time these are authentic stories that they tell us.  If they weren’t authentic chances are they’ll eventually get caught up in the lie and ruin all credibility especially with social media.  One reason why we choose one leader over another is how we can relate to them.  One person’s personal story might not resonate well with you but someone from the same company with a different story might be able to relate with you better.  That’s why in a lot of conference calls and events you’ll see different people in different backgrounds telling their story because they know that not everyone can relate to one person.

So what’s your story?  Everyone’s story is unique in their own right.  Do you share your story with your prospects out there?  When you tell your story to people out there some people will automatically get attracted to you and want to work with you and others won’t.  It’s just the name of the game and you just gotta work with the willing.  If you don’t tell your story you are completely missing out because there are tons of people out there that might have been in the same situation as you and they are waiting to hear a story similar to theirs and they need your help.
