Personal Development 101: Designing Your Own Destiny with Your Own Customized Plan

Are you are one of those well read people who have read countless self-help books, or listened or watched intently to every CD and DVD telling you about the next “greatest life strategy” or the next “big secret to success?” Everyone has their own professional angle on the best things you should do and where the top places to start are. But who would know more about your greatest desires—all of these self-proclaimed, self-help gurus, or you?

 
Although, these publications do have some validity and a place, following every advisement in every self-improvement book is clearly not the answer. You must have a clear and concise understanding of what you really want, and a definite, and puposed direction. There is no magic bullet to fit every person, but here are some great premises that should get you started:
 
1. Write a Personal Mission Statement based on these five premises:
 
a.         What do I really want?
b.         Who am I?
c.         What is my purpose?
d.         Where do I want to be?
e.         How does what I do add value?
 
2.         Based on your personal values and beliefs, design your lifestyle around YOU, instead of your circumstance dictating your lifestyle. Write  these things down as you think of them. These are your “whys.”
 
3.         Write down and prioritize your goals according to your Personal Lifestyle Design.
 
4.         Take massive action! Decide the actions critical to achieving your goals. This will be your Daily Method of Operation (DMO.) 
 
5.         Learn and practice good focus skills. Minimize your distractions and stick to your plan.
 
6.                  Be a problem solver. For every problem you encounter, come up with two solutions.
