BUT...Prints In The Sand

 One of the joys that I had as a teenager, and even now, is heading down to the coast of Southern California early in the morning with some of my buddies throwing on a wetsuit and heading out into the surf to attempt to conquer that beautiful gift of mother nature by not only staying on my board but dreaming I am making those Kelly Slater like moves.   Of course there are those times when we just hangout on the beach and enjoy those magnificent sunrises and sunsets.  I always find it so interesting to see how the waves can not only wipe us out as we ride them but they also wipe out anything that is on the beach.  It is like one of those Etch-a-Sketch toys we all had as a kid.  Now you see it, now you don't. For example, imagine that you had left your footprints in the sand along the beach and and then a wave comes up and whoosh - they are gone, like it never happened.

Unfortunately, there are some prints in the sand that don't go away so easily.  I like to call them "BUT" prints.  No, that is not a misspelling.  You know those ugly remnants that are left over reminders of our excuses that have become such a regular part of our lives.  You know, it goes like this.  I could have done that BUT I was too busy to get it done.  Or, I would have succeeded at that new business BUT I didn't think my leader was the right one for me. But, but, but, just leaving those funny little prints on the shores of our dreams.

Are you content to just let those "BUT" prints gather and be your epitaph for your life?  The only way you can erase those "BUT" prints is to generate a wave.  Just like those waves that I ride while surfing and harness that awesome power and use it to my advantage. You can create your own wave. A wave of change and positive momentum; positive thoughts on your part will wash away your "BUT" prints and give you a clean slate for the rest of your life.  Don't settle for a life full of excuses and effortless activities.  Jump on your wave.....ride it.....don't stop, and you will have no regrets.
