I had an interesting experience the other night when I took some teens that I mentor out to the state fair. I was tired and really was not in the mood that night to chase young teens full of energy around a fair full of thousands of people. So I decided to take a quick nap and then I would track them down later. Well almost 4 hours later and no teens in sight I realized that my nap had turned into a deep sleep. I tried to turn on the passenger van and realized that I had left the radio on. Well I was in a big parking lot full of cars so I felt that if I needed assistance that should not be a problem right? Well this is when the evening starts to get interesting.
First of all I searched the passenger van I was driving and realized that there were not any jumper cables in the whole vehicle. So I ask people who were walking to their cars and after 30-45 minutes I finally found someone who had a jumper cable in their car. I thought to myself all those people who did not have jumper cables in their car, what would happen the day they need a jump. They would depend on someone else like I was doing. Now if I was to ask 10 people who keep jumper cables in their car I can bet 7 out of 10 would not. But why, an important object such as a jumper cable is so over looked and we never realize how important it is until we need it. Even though we should keep a set in our car many times we don’t and therefore we must borrow from some else and we treat our business the same way.
Another item that I noticed that is over looked and unappreciated is the tire jack and rods. I worked in the automotive industry and you would be surprised how many people do not have all the proper tools to change their tire if they were ever to get a flat. With Triple A and roadside assistance that is offered by the manufacture many people do not even care to check on the spare tire jacks or rods until it comes that time when they are on the side of the road needing to change their tire.
Over Looked Item #1=Jumper Cables
So what do jumper cables equal when it comes to your network or direct marketing business. Jumper Cables=Your Own Personal Drive
This is often over looked because we usually see the rewards the top earners in this industry achieve such as material, financial, or freedom from a job but we hardly see the headaches and sweat for them to achieve what they earn. Do you ever wonder why most of the wealth of this country is provided by 5% of the population? Do you ever wonder why 97% of network marketers fail and the other 3% earn at least 10k monthly? The answer, their own personal drive would not let them quit it did not matter what obstacles were presented against them.  Your own personal drive is something you have control over. I can show you how to get leads daily into your business, or how to use free and paid resources to grow your business and yourself, or even link you to top earners and resources in this industry, but if you don’t have the personal drive to succeed no matter what hurdles might come your way you will become like a one hit wonder, that’s if you are even able to have the drive to achieve a hit in the first place. Yes at times your network or direct marketing vehicle might be drained out and come to a halt but your personal drive will jump start your vehicle and get on the road to your success and financial freedom again. It is true you might need some assistance in getting it started again whether through training or mentorship but you must have someone around you with a greater drive than yours so that you will never settle and always strive for the best in your MLM business.

So what does this mean for your network (MLM) or direct marketing business. The funny thing about a flat tire is that you never get to choose when and where you will get a flat. I have had a flat tire when it was cold and pouring down rain and had to change my tire on the side of busy dusty road. My choice might have been on a nice sunny day on the side of a road with lovely women around with my shirt off hoping to look like a Calvin Klein commercial but it just does not work that way. But even in the rain and my surrounding environment I had to change the tire in order to get to my destination. You might be at a point where you have a flat on your network marketing vehicle. You might have to adapt to the environment and be open to change and learning innovative ways that can get you back on that road of success again. Keep an open mind and see yourself as a continuous student that is always learning.
