Let Your Light Shine Bright
Let your light shine bright
If you are going to let your light shine let I say let it shine bright.
I listened to the Empower Network Dream Team a.m. motivational call today and was moved to write this post. Thanks to Mr. Biuhe Madu for reminding me of this lesson that Jesus taught in Matthew 5:16. This statement was so profound. “Don’t turn over the dimmer switch to another person”. How often do we turn over the dimmer switch to negative people and challenging circumstances? The thing that is more empowering would be to use those things as fuel for the fire.
If you would take notice in scripture, just before Jesus says to his disciples to let your light shine, he announces in verse 14 that we are the light of the world. A dim light would not do the job. Since God always thinks about abundance I take that to mean “let your light shine bright”! Jesus was very specifically talking about good works that we should do to bring glory to the father. However, there is also a practical application that should be brought out today.
There is a light in each of us. Our potential is connected to that light. We were put on this earth to affect change in the lives of people and given the ability to do so. Unfortunately, many of us go through life with lamp shades on and thus hiding or hindering the brightness of our potential. We bring glory to the father when we operate in what he has designed us for and assigned us to. If we would keep that at the forefront of our minds during those times when we feel like giving up, it would help us to move forward and eagerly face the challenges that are set before us.
We should seek to let our light shine bright because other people are counting on our consistent brightness.
A bright light does much better than a flashlight in a dark dismal place. People are in dark dismal places in their lives and need the brightness of the 100 watt bulb in you and not the occasional brightness of the three-way bulb or the faintness of the 30 watt.
The next time you are tempted to hide under a lamp shade or give the dimmer switch over to circumstances and not let your light to shine bright, remember that someone in this world is counting on your brightness. They cannot see their way if you are not willing to light the path. I know it seems like a great responsibility, but we are all called to it. The assignment wouldn’t have been given to us if our father didn’t think that we were capable of handling it. To whom much is given, much is required.
Part of my responsibility in letting my light shine is pointing people to financial freedom. Many avenues are available, but I use this one.
Go out there and let your light shine bright.
