Maintaining A Positive Attitude: Get Rid Of Your Stinking Thinking

Read More: Positive Thinking

The other day I had a conversation via email, with a young lady who is struggling in her MLM business.

I was explaining to her, the importance of constantly feeding your sales funnel and some of the various ways in which you can do that.

I shared with her, an article that I had writing and posted on a popular MLM forum, so that she could see the amount of traffic, that it was getting.

The following is her reply; "Nice article but I don't know how to get this good at writing articles or blogs and getting viewers."

When I first read her reply, my first thought was about something that I had heard, a few days earlier while playing golf with one of my buddies. We were paired up with another twosome, a couple of older gentleman.

My buddy was having a rough start on the front nine holes. At the turn, one of the elder gentlemen said to my buddy, "You need to get rid of that Stinking Thinking, if you're going to have a better back nine".... Which he did by the way!

Now if you're a golfer, you know that a larger part of the game is played between your ears. If you hit a bad shot and you allow it to bother you, the next things to come, is second guessing and negative thoughts.

And if you don't get rid of those thoughts, before addressing the ball to play your next shot, there's a really good chance that your next shot will also be a bad shot.

If you're not able to get it together mentally and start having more positive thoughts, what you end up with, is a long frustrating day on the golf course.... And just for the record, that's still better than a good day at work!

It's Part Of Your Story

Just like the elderly gentleman, suggested that my buddy change his way of thinking and his attitude.... I encourage this young lady to do the same.

You see you can't continue to carry around the attitude, that you can't do or not over come something. Because when you have that mentality, day after day.... What you end up with is not a bad day on the golf course, but a long frustrated life.

Just as my buddy was able to change and over come, the horrible first nine holes, you too must be able to over come the challenges that you face and limitations that you may have.

What a lot of people who struggle in MLM, don't understand. Is that those struggles and short comings are all apart of your success story.

Over coming these things and sharing your story, allows you to be able to help and strengthen others. It gives them something to be able to relate to and see that it's possible to change and grow. Imagine how boring your success story would be, if you had no challenges and everything came with ease.... Not very inspiring for sure.

Some Tips For Maintaining A Positive Attitude

  1. Develop a clear picture in your head of you becoming successful
  2. Don't focus on things you have no control over
  3. READ READ READ!.... Self development books and other materials
  4. Learn to focus on solutions and not the problem itself
  5. Always look for that silver lining no matter how dark things may seem
  6. Make and maintain a list of your goals
  7. Associate with positive and ambitious people

Conclusion

If you don't believe that your level of success, is directly connected to your attitude and outlook.... THEN YOU'RE CRAZY!

If you want success, you must be willing to grow as a person. That means stripping away the old negative you and rebuilding yourself.

It's a process and it doesn't happen over night.... But it will never happen if you never get started.

So starting right now, work on YOU and get rid of your stinking thinking.

I would love to hear your thoughts and stories, so please post a comment and share them.

Much Success,

Positive Punches Negative In The Nose

Thank you for this wonderful post Anthony! Positive takes the cake every time. It's been scientifically proven that positivity and negativity can literally create hardwired channels in your mind like wear and tear on a highly trafficked path through the woods where you can see the footprints of those that tread before you. The point is, since you have freedom of choice, why not choose to think positive thoughts instead of recycling negative thoughts that simply don't serve you. So let Positivity take the gloves off and give Negativity a good solid right hook. And Anthony's RIGHT, if you're serious about being a successful entrepreneur, READ READ READ... but NOT the comics (that's only for Sundays).

Negatives Rule

Hi Antoney fantastic post,

Its funny how things change when you change.Being positive is not a magic wand that stops the nagetive thoughts,a Positive out look its a choice.

We all suffer in our lives at one point or another we all get kicked and punched every now and again

But when you get knocked out by life; and you feel that is it....its your Super hero mr Positive! that come to the rescue! And keeps you going.

My thoughts are.....

its not how hard a challenge is to over come, its how you respond to the challenge, yep you are allowed to be a little peeed off,and you may even think about quitting your busines sometimes, however as soon as you realise the bigger the challenge is, the closer you are to SUCCESS.

Start to practice turning negs into POSITIVES, like this thought of mine a negative is also a positive it tell us that we are not on the right track.

And soon there will be no negs left or very few,the negs that are left would be like feathers trying to knock down a solid stone wall.

Positive feelings and thoughts eventually and always give us positive results.

Graham
PS just want to say I feel inspired going to be writing an article about this post, will let you know when its finished

As you said, its how you respond.

Thanks again,

Great read Anthony

I had a situation hit me between the eyes a little while back. When I walk in someplace and someone asks me how I am, I always answer "Just about perfect", give them a big smile and wait. The usual response was a puzzled grin and a "How come only "just about" and not totally perfect?"

I would then proceed to explain to them that if I said I was perfect and someone noticed something amiss about me they would think I was lying about being perfect. So the "just about" covered whatever imperfection they noticed.

Months and months later one guy finally asked me how come I was always so cheerful. I told him it was a choice I made every morning when I woke up. Today was going to be a fantastic day and just about every day was fantastic. Now this is what blew me away. He said I was the only person who ever walked into his gas station cheerful. EVERYONE else complained about something or answered with a shrug and a "I'm fine" when their whole countenance was down in the dumps.

Sad, that out of the hundreds of people that walked in there every morning to pick up their cup of coffee that I was the only one who consistently, regardless of, still walked in with a smile and a cheerful greeting.

Tells you how much of a positive impact you can have on your world when you choose to have a fantastic day each and every day.

Hi Joyce, That is sad that

Hi Joyce,

That is sad that you're the only out of hundreds to greet that clerk with a smile and a warm greeting.

It's funny but my children always ask me, how do you know so many people? And how do you always get to know the name of all the people that work in every store we go in?

I just tell them that, those people are dealing with unhappy people all day long and its a moment of escape from all the negative unfriendly people, when I take the time to have a brief uplifting conversation with them.
