The New Economy’s Simple Formula For Financial Success

Read More: Personal Development

It was not long ago that the formula for success was go to school and get a good job with great benefits. Once you completed those steps you could basically put your life on auto-pilot and be set.

Today those rules no longer apply. Having a good job is about as secure as having a good used car. It might be reliable for the first couple of years but then things start to break down. There might be downsizing, layoffs, and many company’s are closing their doors completely or picking up shop to go to another country.

This seems like bad news but it is better defined as new rules. The new rules include an entirely different formula than the go to school and get a good job formula.

So what is the Formula for success in today’s economy?

It is a very simple formula but I will warn you that it does not involve putting your life on auto-pilot............

The New Economy’s Formula is:

New Skills= More Value= Increased Income Potential

In today’s “new economy” as more and more people are finding themselves without a job, more are looking to start a business. Other people looking are just tired of not having any control of their lives in an uncertain job market. Most that are looking want to start a business they can run from the comfort of their own home utilizing the internet.

To start any new business it is critical to learn new skills. Simply committing to this will invariably increase your value to the marketplace. As you increase your value and provide it to the marketplace your increased income potential grows.

But let’s be real here, the thought of learning new skills can be daunting. It can be downright scary for people who have not been actively learning for years or in some cases decades. The process of gaining new skills is full of ups and downs as well. It is critical to celebrate every small victory as you learn and apply! This will provide you with the staying power to keep you excited and motivated to keep plowing ahead.

Another little secret about gaining new skills is that they never produce results as fast as  you think they should. When you apply each new technique it always takes longer to work than you think it should. Accept that fact and run with it! Persistence and tweaking are key. Hold on to these two skills and you will achieve great things!

As you are on your journey of gaining new skills do not forget the more value part of the  equation. Pass this value into the world and you will attract the people you desire to you and your business. Leverage your new value and position yourself as a leader. Most people are looking for a leader to help them on their way. Be that person and you will experience great success in the new economy!

Last note for you to remember in this equation is that everyone has their own timeline. Do not compare yourself to anyone. If you must compare yourself to something compare your progress and growth from one week to another. If you embrace this new economy formula you will be shocked at how many doors will open for you!

To your continued success!

Great article

This is exactly what everyone struggling in today's economy needs to hear and understand. We also need to be teaching these concepts to our children. I talk to my kids about this stuff all the time. I tell them to think of a "job" as a short-term solution util you decide what you really want out of life.

Thanks for expressing these thoughts so well.

Great Point!

Tony,
Your children are lucky to be getting such a great "real-life" education so early on in life! You articulated that point very well.

Brilliantly written

Hi Mary,

I really enjoyed reading this article and,as already mentioned by others,great to be reminded about different points we sometimes tend to forget;
Your own timeline and what you have accomplished in the last weeks or months rather than looking at others is very important.

It's so easy to get disheartened and overwhelmed when we see others succeed much faster...without really knowing their circumstances.

A strange human trait...we rarely compare ourselves to those not moving so fast so we feel good about what we have accomplished.

Look forward to more,

Warmest regards,

Jan :-)

Great depiction of the new economy.

The more people we can make this known to, the stronger the new economy will be - less people will find themselves dealing with poverty. Here's to continuing our pursuit!

Excellent Reminder-Increase Your Value and Increase Your Income

Hi Mary,
Reading this article this morning was exactly what I needed as a reminder to stay focused on my accomplishments and not compare myself to others. I have been struggling the past 2 weeks to learn a new skill and am determined to master it but it has been frustrating. Your article gave me the encouragement I needed to carry on and to know once I master this skill I will have gained a valuable skill that I can teach to others along with increasing my income potential.

Here Is How We Make Adjustments

We got to take care of ourselves and treat this business like a job. Each hour we work it we must take a short break and ask ourselves what did we accomplish? If it is not a good answer that we have we must adjust immediately. That way we will get better at making adjustments and our business will move forward faster.
