Write It Down, Make It Happen

Today at the library I stumbled onto a great book.

Henriette Anne Klauser’s book, Write It Down, Make It Happen, contains the recipe for achieving your dreams.

The recipe is simple.

First write down a list of everything you want to achieve before you die. (Reminds me of the movie, “The Bucket List.”)  Let your pen flow and write down things with second guessing.  Keep writing. Nothing is too big for this list.

The author shares the story about how Lou Holtz, at age 28, was totally unmotivated. His wife gave him a piece of paper and told him to write down what he wanted to accomplish before he died. That single act turned his life around. The goals he listed began to be lived out.

Klauser gives story after story about people who have applied this simple technique to their lives.

She gives the scientific reason of what happens in our brain when we write down a specific goal. The brain goes into a filter mode and begins seeing the world around us in a different light.  It’s as though our brain is now on high alert to the things around us that will help us accomplish our goals.

This book reminds me again of the power in the written word. There’s a mysterious connection between our pen, our brain, and our destiny. I believe it’s one of the wonderful ways that God works in my life.  When I write without an agenda, I find that layers of my subconscious are peeled away, and I find the truth deep inside. When I return to the words I’ve written months or even years ago, it is amazing to see God’s hand orchestrating the events in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

The book is another great reminder of the way we can live our lives from the stage, instead of from the shadows.

I choose to live it from the stage!

There is an old saying

If you write down what you want and read it day and night it will happen. What you think about happens!

Writing it down...

...and keeping it in your mind is the key. And thank you, Margi, for sharing your personal insights into the effects of "writing without an agenda." I've written much in my life, but always with a specific goal in mind. I'm going to try it your way. :-D
