Say Good-bye To Your Computer
Say goodbye to your computer!!!
Scared you, didn't I?? No, it's not forever. But in the quest for balance and a simple, relaxed family vacation, it's time. Turning off the computer for a day or a week seems like forever if Web 2.0 is the lifeblood of your toolbox. We go through withdrawal. We're petrified that the perfect prospect may contact us and we won't be there to respond. Let's look at that. If you have things set up well, your perfect prospect should be automatically receiving email messages from you as soon as they come through one of your sites. Of course, there are those that just contact you directly, through BN for instance. But in general, if you have a good autoresponder system in place, your prospects will be well taken care of for a week or so.
I am firm advocate of making live contact and I do so withing 24 hours of receiving someone's information. So let's talk about trust. Do you trust that the right people will still be there and ready to receive you call if you do not get back to them in 24 hours? I remember Mike Dillard or Mark Wieser saying in Black Belt Recruiting, that there's not much that you can do or say wrong, with the right person. So it's OK. Set up your system and then trust. Isn't being away from the daily requirment to "work" a good part of why we are in this business in the first place?
As for direct contacts. Do your best to set up autoresponder messages in all your outgoing systems. Beyond that, I think our world is too fast-paced anyway. Since when did we need such instant gratification? Does anyone remember how long it took to send and receive a letter from the post office? Trust. Believe. Know that it's good for the soul to take a break and OK for people to wait a few days. They'll be happy to hear from you when you return and you'll be setting a good example for your team regarding balance in one's life. When you return,
Say Hello To Your Computer!!

These are good reminders. I tend to be an all or none person, which is difficult when trying to balance a home and a home business. Finding a balance is one of my biggest challenges and your article has some good points that will help.
It is so true. The people who are meant to be with you will still be there when you turn the computer back on. :) And those are the people you want to work with!
