Selling Without Being Perceived As A Salesperson in MLM
How do you bore someone to death?
Easy… Ony talk about yourself.
I’m sure you’ve met people like this. They always find a way to turn the conversation on them. And it’s normal because everyone loves to talk about themselves. But also, most people think in order to be attractive, they need to be interesting. Talking about yourself or what you know about a specific subject is the worst strategy to use if you want to be attractive.
People Don’t Find You Interesting
Unless You Show Them How Interested You Are.
Once you’ve shown someone you are genuinely interested in them, you’ve won their respect and attention. Then, they’ll want to return the favor to you and listen to what you have to share.

Getting Information First and Then Giving Information Back.
In traditional business, we call that “market research”. You want to understand why your prospect would have an interest in what you offer. By asking questions, you’re able to determine if you can help them.Unfortunately, most salespeople will do the exact opposite. If they are given an opportunity to talk, they’ll go on and on and on. Usually, the other person stopped listening long ago.
I’ve heard someone at a training say “If you’re not talking, you’re not selling”.
With this kind of information, it’s no wonder why people hide from network marketers. We try to pitch everything we know about our company, products, compensation plan. Just like trying to get our prospects to drink out of a fire hose. And then we wonder why we are no longer invited to the Christmas party!
Also, many people think if they don’t talk they loose control of the conversation.
This feeling comes from the thought that if you talk, you’re able to lead the conversation where you want it to go. But by talking at the prospect instead of talking with them, you’re leaving them behind and not going anywhere.
By engaging them in the conversation and asking the right questions, you are leading them towards the realization of what they really need.
The Best Way To Sell Something To Someone
Is To Have Them Sell Themselves.
Of course they will! You’ve earned their trust. They’ll allow you to provide them information that can truly help them.
We hear so often that enthusiasm sells. More often than not, it only makes you look stupid.
You can have all the excitement you want, bottom line it won’t get to your prospect if you haven’t touched their hot buttons.
What your prospect wants to know is “What’s in it for me?”
So stop talking, start listening to what your prospect wants, needs and doesn’t want. Then, once they really believe you care about them, will you be able to help them find a solution.
