Should I Recruit or Should I Sponsor?

Well What are you looking for? New Blood?  Someone to do what you want?  Well then Recruiting is what you want to do.

Or do you  want to help People own their LIFES?  By helping those People you will own yours!

If you are looking to Equip and Build a Person no matter the out come.  That is Sponsering.  So Tell me what is more appealing to you? Sponsoring or Recruiting?  Look them up in the dictionary if you have questions.

If you want to Build People in to leaders.  That is Very Long sighted.   Like an eagle.  Eagles are Long sighted.  They can see way off into the distance.

If you are Recruiting you will attract Recruiters as well.  Looking for new Blood saying whatever it takes to get the new Blood.  Because that is the Goal

With Sponsoring Because this takes time and love and care you do not want to sponser just anyone.  NO you will waste their time and yours.  Look for the volenteers they are the ones calling you.  They are the ones doing their assignments you hand them out.  They are Hungry for Self improvement.  They Blame no one.  They know they can do this with Your Help.  Give your Prospect a Puppy.

That is what Michael Dlouhy says.  What does he mean by that.  If you want to learn to Sponser People I suggest getting the book Success in 10 Steps.

If you want to Recruit  there are lots of books on that subject,

I have found a Anchor.  Find your Anchor and Pick who you are.  Are you a Sponsorer or a Recruiter?  Pick and then go for it.

Sponsor!

I believe in the end sponsoring is much more rewarding than recruiting.  Recruiting is almost like getting a herd of cattle up the shoot.  Sponsoring is more supportive and caring.

Great post!

Sponsoring Rules

Sponsoring definitely rules my business.

I think you may be perpetuating a myth

Somehow the word "recruit" or "recruiter" has picked up a negative connotation.  A recruit is simply someone who has joined a group or organization.  You were a new recruit at one point.  You and everyone else in network marketing are always looking for new recruits so you are a recruiter.

As a recruiter you should be looking for volunteers.  You are sorting and sifting and rejecting those who don't put their hands up and say pick me.  That's cool.

Now as a recruiter as you sign up a volunteer then you move into the realm of sponsor.  Then to what extent you work with them to push, pull, encourage, support them to reach their goal is your choice.  There are many successful network marketers that will tell you to help those who ask for it, apply it and want to move onto the next step.

So remember, if you don't bring in new recruits, your business doesn't grow.  So I would suggest you recruit like crazy if you ever want to reach any level of significant income in your organization.  Be the best recruiter possible !

To your success,

I would have to agree with

I would have to agree with you Joyce; nothing is 'wrong' with Recruiting; To a certain degree by the definition of this article, I want to Recruit. There is So much information now, compared to when I got started with this industry, that I don't want to babysit someone; I don't want to change Their life; I just want to give them the opportunity to change it for themselves. I'll help ... but I'm not gonna invest my time into someone who may not be in it for the long haul. For those who are, I can point them in the right direction, and they'll go...

Personally...

..we sponsor then we forget them..if we train them is a recruit.

We don't ask who is your recruiter?..

We say who is your sponsor regardless if we recruit somebody or sponsor

them..

Personally..I never /heard recruit until training was being offered even though

most of us help those we sponsor by whatever way..

rey

P.S. I am probably wrong haha..who cares?..let's make some money makes no

and I enjoy your contributions..

I am with you REynaldo

Its the Law help enough people get what they want you will get what you want.  So to me Sponsor is someone who will help you weather or not you Join them.  A Recruiter is some one who will only help you if there is something in it for them from you.  Nothing wrong with that.  Just I am not a Recruiter never will be I will Sponsor you and help you.  That does not mean babysitting that means Pointing the way.

Juanita, I love your answers as well as your post.

I am, like you, a sponsor. I am looking for people that I can help to grow and earn what they want to in my business opportunity. That means that when I am "recruiting," I'm not just going after someone who's breathing and has a credit card to sign up. I am looking for those who want to make a positive change in their lives and are willing to do the same. We all succeed together.

This doesn't mean that I never have drop outs or people who take advantage of my company's 72-hour "are you sure?" policy. I do. But, it means that I develop relationships with my people. I know them, and I let them know me. They can call me for help any time. I call them to check in. And if they say they want to advance, I help them do it.

Am I a black belt recruiter or a sponsor monster? No. But, I am building an organization of people who know that I care about them and who care about me and each other. We are there to help one another because we know that there are plenty of prospects to go around. Along the way, every one of us learns from the others and every one of us teaches the others.

I frankly can't imagine doing it any other way.

Way to go!!!
Such great topic! I've also learned that trying to recruit everything with a pulse,
it's like holding a huge billboard that screams ''Amateur''!

Daniela Riess — Tue, 04/21/2009 - 3:31pm

How about a little of both

Recruit: To make an attempt to enroll or enlist new members or potential employees on behalf of an employer, organization, sports team, military, etc.

Sponsor: (commercial) – to support an event, activity, or person.

I'll recruit anyone that passes the first interview - because at that point its only talk and a prospect can tell me anything and there is no way to verify

I become the sponsor in the definition above to those willing to help themselves as much as I am willing to help them

interesting discussion

Semantics

I think the is just a matter of semantics. No matter what you call it, we all should be looking to add new people to our organization. Personally, I am looking for health concious indivuals that may be looking for an additional income source. I look at "recruit" as a verb and then I become their "sponsor". We are all looking the same thing. Growth.

I think it was Shakespear that said. "A rose by any other name is still a rose." I'm sure I completely ruined this quote, but hopefully you get the point.

Very Well Said!

I just hate yep hate the word Recruiter !

I was amazed at how many companies talked a great product talk, but their profit center was NOT their products!

I am not a recruiter for L'Bri Pure n' Natural, I am a sponsor.

To me a recruiter never knows their personally sponsored people's "WHY." Their dreams, goals, or spouse's or children's names. It's only about numbers.  It takes teamwork, people from every walk of life & experience level coming together, working together.  I want to help my customers and my team reach THEIR dreams. NOT my dreams.

YES -You absolutely need a great product. You won't sustain success without one. But like any skyscraper, the MOST critical is a LOT of people working together.

The fact is, over 80% of the people that get into direct sales fail, but they fail because the selling and marketing techniques they've been taught are outdated they were recruited with no sponsorship and left to drown in totally unfamiliar waters.

Hello to all my sponsoring friends out there!

Hello to everybody else too. ;) lol

I've enjoyed the comments here, from both camps, and personally I truly enjoy the feeling I get when I know I'm helping someone, regardless of any attachment to a dollar amount.

I help people in networking because I know I can share tools with them to help them succeed.  That makes them feel good and me too.  I love people and I love helping them to find success in their lives!

I'm not just out looking for warm bodies, I'm looking for lifelong friends that I will enjoy working with and whom each of us is able to provide value to each other in some way or another.

People are not paychecks!  If you see it that way, I'd urge you to reexamine your values and your motives.   (Are you in it just for the money, or are you in it to build success for both you and any who choose to work with you?)

I like sponsoring and I like valuing my team as individuals, with wants, needs and feelings, not just another number on my paycheck....

Peace and Abundance in all good things,

Randy Enman

Randy Enman — Fri, 04/24/2009 - 9:11am

Hey Denise

You've subscribed to a myth about recruiting.  For example: If you are talking to people with the intent to help them and you offer them a system (paid or free) you are recruiting and they become a recruit.  The transition may be very short from a recruiter to a sponsor but at one point you are a recruiter.  As a recruiter if you don't know your prospects dreams and desires you are not sifting and sorting.

A sponsor becomes a sponsor the instant their recruit joins the system or opportunity.

A mentor can be both in or out of the system.  However as a mentor if your objective is to have people join your system or opportunity then you are not really a mentor you are a recruiter (followed by the sponsoring).

Recruiting for some strange reason has developed such a negative connotation as has the word "sales".  I don't know why people shy away from it but without recruiting (having people join) and sales (moving product) nobody would receive any compensation.

To your success,

Joyce Penner

Sponsoring Means Leadership!

Hi Juanita,
This post sounds very interesting to me, specially because lets me see how much my life changed!
I am in the network marketing industry for more than 5 years and during this time I haf a very good experience... as a recruiter and as a sponsor.
When I started I learned the 3 foot rule and I became an "expert" doing this. Actually I received prizes, recognition and get money, but I DID NOT have a business. My success was personal. Even I recruited a lot of people by myself, I did not have a team... You know what I mean, don't you?
After I received the appropiate training, my vision about this businees changed and I finally could became a sponsor. I did not know how to sponsor people because no one in my upline had taught me.
I realize that when you are a sponsor you are a real leader!
Now, I sponsor people and I can tell you that is the most wonderful experience you can have absolutely!
When you really help people change their lives, yours change! My focus is to train leaders now, because that is what I want in my organization. And that is what I became!
Thank you for your post!
Tula.

Your Experence Reminds me of the one that Orrin Woodward Had when he started out. they would Recruit a 100 and then they would all be gone by the next year. He did that for 6 years till he learned to Sponsor.
