Should I Take The Time To Learn Web 2.0?

A prospect recently asked me if she should take the time to learn web 2.0? My answer to her was yes. I believe it's still going to take some time before many network marketing companies change their current marketing approach to include technology, but It's coming. In this article I will share why learning Web 2.0 strategies is essential for a network marketing business.

Think of how fast technology has changed over the last few years. Currently small and large businesses use the Internet to grow their businesses everyday. Why should network marketing businesses be any different. There is no denying that technology has changed our way of life. We can watch TV, listen to music, go to college, apply for a job, meet our future spouse, etc. all over the Internet. Social networking websites like myspace, facebook, and squidoo have allowed people to connect all over the world.

What Web 2.0 does for the network marketer is it helps to connect the entrepreneur with the prospect on a couple of different levels.

1. Leverage

Most network marketers are told to make a list and go to their warm markets. When that is exhausted they go to the cold market and cold call business opportunity lists, or network in their communities.

Web 2.0 provides leverage by allowing entrepreneurs to post live videos that run 24/7, post articles that people can read 24/7, set up social profiles that run 24/7 that attract people, etc. Web 2.0 leverages time.

When I was starting out in my network marketing business I would come home from my dayjob and then go to work on my business for about 2-4 hrs. a night. That was all the time I had until the weekend. As soon as I started using Web 2.0 strategies my business changed. I was now generating targeted prospects who were attracted to me while I was working my day job. When I came home from work I had a list of people I could call for follow up.

2. Branding
Web 2.0 allows you to brand yourself as an expert without having to work years and years in a traditional corporate job. Let's face it, people are attracted to people who know what they are doing. An entrepreneur is learning new skills all the time. They have to in order for their business to survive. Web 2.0 allows you to share with prospects your expertise in your business. There are experiences and knowledge that we all have that could help influence a prospect to do business with us.

What I suggest for other network marketers is to start off slow. Begin learning how to do article marketing, how to post videos or set up a myspace profile. One of the best ways to get started is to participate in online MLM forums. Two great forums are magnetic sponsoring.com and richdad forum. All you have to do is to create an ad and post it in your signature or resource box. Then start contributing to the forum. Learn from others as well as share from your own experiences. Do not spam!! People hate this and it will get you kicked off the forum. People will see your signature box when you post to the forums and will come over to your website.

There are many network marketers attracting business partners through the use of forums.
