Or...How the wrong target market can stunt your growth as a Network Marketer
I read an interesting article written by a fellow Renegade University colleague recently, encouraging us to learn how to reach “our” target market: fellow network marketers. Now, I understand that people already involved in network marketing may reap immediate benefits from what RU has to offer. And being already involved in an internet-based business, they just may be a bit more “warm” to the program. But is it just me or does that attitude seem to lean towards in-breeding?? (Or at least preaching to the choir...)
I mean, from my perspective, there are a whole bunch of people who could benefit from what RU has to offer. Some examples are:
* distributors of health and wellness products
* those involved in MLMs who are still utilizing marketing strategies from the dark ages
* baby-boomers worried about financing their ever-nearing retirement
* moms and dads with young children who want to break free of the rat race
* adults of any age caught up in the current financial crisis
* anyone involved in the American auto industry (!)
* college students needing to pay for their education or beginning a career
* homeschool moms seeking to supplement their family’s single income, while continuing to homeschool
* etc, etc.
See what I mean?
“It’s all in the list”
This saying among internet marketers refers to the people who are willing to hear and receive information from you. The bigger your list, the more opportunity you have to sell your product, service or information. I’d have to add to that that it’s also “all in the niche”.
We all have our own interests, connections, businesses perhaps that can give us ample opportunities to create and develop content that people can use; content areas we have solid knowledge in and are passionate about. That is what defines our niche, ladies and gents: and that should be our target market!
Yup, there’s plenty to say about investigating profitability; but there’s equal amounts to be made up for any shortfall there by the passion you have for your niche.
So I say: “Build your network of fellow RU students as friends and colleagues, and do count me in. But please stop trying to sell me your “version” of what I’m already learning!” Let’s work together to learn and support each other – and then go forth to discover and “conquer” our own unique markets!

Great article. I couldn't agree more. This is a great place to learn from one another to be better. Ah, SO MANY NICHE MARKETS, SO LITTLE TIME.
