Should You Care About Your AVATAR?

I was so blessed to have had a discussion with Master Networker, Raymond Fong a couple of weeks ago and honestly, prior to our conversation, I thought I had a pretty good idea on who my Avatar is…

What – or rather who – is an Avatar? Should I care about what an Avatar is? Absolutely!!! Without an Avatar, it will be a challenge for you to succeed in this business…Defining your Avatar is THE key that unlocks major doors in your business. Simply put, an Avatar is your target or niche market.

Right when I thought I knew who/what my Avatar is, Raymond showed me that I couldn’t be more wrong. I really didn’t know my Avatar! I thought everyone who’s hurting financially out there is my target market.

Raymond reminded me of what I learned at Traffic Formula Live. An Avatar is the embodiment of your perfect prospect. You think this is easy to define? Think again because this is where most people drop the ball in marketing. We tend to cast really wide nets hoping for a big catch. We try to define our “market” which is still rather big. We make the mistake of identifying the group rather than the person. I’ll say that again…we identify the GROUP rather than the PERSON.

While it takes time and a lot of thinking to identify our Avatar, it’s a step that cannot be taken lightly. Here are some pointers and questions Raymond Fong shared with me which I am not sharing with you to hopefully give you clarity on this very important activity:

 1)     What is a common theme going on with your Avatar? What key elements should you      be addressing?

2)    Envision that person you are speaking to…WHAT IS HIS/HER PAIN? Sympathize with him/her…make him/her know you understand…”I’ve been there…done that”… How are you going to be able to ease that pain?

3)    Your Avatar is the representation of all the ideal traits that make up your perfect customer – that person who would give up anything to get their hands on what you have to offer.

4)    Think of your “imaginary friend” – if you had one as a child, if not create one now ;) …speak to that ONE person and never to a group.

5)    When you speak to your Avatar, find ways to make him/her feel special and unique…realize that they are craving individual attention.

6)    What is their language? How can you connect with them? By speaking their language! What words/phrases trigger a response and make them want to keep reading?

7)    Why should they listen to you?   What makes you special from the rest who offer the same things?

8)    Name your Avatar…make this fun!

9)    Write 10 things your Avatar would care most about.

10)What “bribe” or gift are you ready to give to your Avatar, once they take the time to listen or read what you have to offer? Ebook? Audio file? Video Bootcamp?

Alright, time for all of you to get to work! I would love to hear from you if this article has helped you so I can also share with Raymond how his wisdom and generosity has helped you! I am looking forward to hearing about your progress!

Many Blessings,

Emma ;)

I still don't get this one. What is an avatar?

This is KEY!

Emma,
Thanks for your article. The answer is that you must know who your customer is and how best to serve them. The questions you have here are most helpful in discovering who the prospect is more specifically. This can be very difficult , because many believe that a wide and often too wide an audience needs their product or service.

Now its time to really put on the thinking cap and get clear!

Great line of questions... thanks to you both.

Thank You, Dr. Deb!

Hello Dr. Deb!
Thanks for taking the time to post your comment! I am so glad that you understand the importance of this highly critical step in marketing! Yes, casting a wide net is a common misconception...I hope you were able to "put your thinking cap on and get clear!" Would love to hear your progress! Wow, you're an ND? How wonderful! I also sent you a "connection request". Would love to know what you're up to from time to time...Many Blessings, Emma ;)

Hello Mark!

Hi Mark!
Thanks for taking the time to read the article and posting your comment. An Avatar- simply put - is the specific description of your target or niche market - who you're trying to connect with, who you're trying to offer your product and services to. If you want more info, you might want to Google - customer avatars. Hope this helps! Many Blessings, Emma ;)

re: Avatar

Hi Emma,

Thanks for the great article. I totally agree with you that knowing intimately who your avatar is critical to success in any business endeavor. This can be a process and take some time.

I'm not sure if this is true 100% of the time but where I'm landing with this is that often your avatar is YOU! This makes sense since you can relate to that person best since you've been there done that!

Thanks again,

Dianne

Hello Dianne!

Hi Dianne!

Thanks for your comment...yes, it's true...we tend to gravitate towards those who have our pain, ergo those same people become the profile of our Avatar.  I think the more challenging process is to really be in tune with other people's pains that are not necessarily like ours...that's where the art comes in...

Thanks for connecting!  Yes, we did meet at MLM Traffic Formula Live!  I am slowly implementing everything I have learned though getting "distracted" by this thing called life ;)

Doing my best to focus and studying a system that has so far been the most duplicable...check out www.youcanhopeagain.com - everything is a template and they have awesome training videos.  I was a bit challenged with InstantMLMProfits.com - the system we subscribed to while in Austin, TX.  I am not a technical expert but am able to get by with step by step instructions...

Many Blessings to you, Dianne!!!  See you around!

re: Hello Dianne

Hello again,

It took a while but I am really liking Instant MLM profits.I especially like the fact that I can test different lead capture pages to see which converts better.

I will check out the program you like. Are you able to do testing with it? Does it have it's own autoresponder? etc.

I look forward to hearing about your success.

Blessings,

Dianne
