Social Marketing Abused?
Read More: Alright, I’m probably going to offend some people with this post, but we’ll see if you agree or walk away offended…
I don’t mean for this post to offend, but I do intend it to prove a point.
Being in Network Marketing these past few years has been a great growing experience, even the hard times. Through my experiences and people I have met, I have learned a LOT. I have seen there are three main classes in MLM. The first category is what we will call “the majority”. The majority is followers, they do what they have been told to do. If they are told to make cold calls they do and most build their business the “traditional way”(cold calls, home meetings, 3-foot rule, etc.).
The second class is made up of those who have been in MLM a while and are learning a new way to doing things. For example, they are learning the power of the Internet to grow their business; they are using social networking sites and tools like MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
I have to give this class props for learning how to do things a new way and dare I say a better way. The only problems I see in this class is, they are using all the right tools, but they still have the “traditional” mindset. I’ll explain more in a little bit.
The third class is a smaller class of a rare breed of entrepreneur. They guys and girls are the ones that set the standard of the Industry. The thing that separates the second class and the third class is their mindset. . .
Now’s it time to offend. (Please note that when I say “classess” I am not saying that there are higher classes or lower classes people, just different classes)
Here is an example of the difference of the third class compared to the second class:
Both classes are using the Internet to promote their business, both are using different Social Media sites. But there is a big difference between the two.
Let’s take Twitter for instance, the third class Tweet about quality content, they Tweet about things that add value to their followers. The second class Tweets, but usually it is always about THEIR business opportunity. They are not out to add value or help people, unless something is in it for them. (Am I offending anyone yet?)
Let’s talk about MySpace, again, one class will have a page that offers value and good content, while the other class’s page is all about the business opportunity, and they usually don’t even have a pic of themselves I might add!
See what I mean? The mindset it totally different and to be really honest with you, I am really getting tired of these “marketers” who offer no value to the Industry. Why am I tired of it? Because they are giving the rest of us a bad name, they are giving the Industry a bad name. If you are using Social Networking sites and tools for spamming, then you need to get out of the club! If you can’t take your business seriously and act like a professional, go find a hobby.
I’m not trying to be mean, but I am trying to prove a point. The goal for all Network Marketers should be, to be the best of the best, to be the Elite in their Industry and make an impact and help others succeed.
Let’s all step it up a notch and show everyone that you are an Elite Marketer, that MLM is a respectable business and that you will bring value to every social networking site that you go to.
Let’s show the world that there is a New Breed of MLM that is here to stay!

Every day people
There is a change a brewing. To date most of all successful people in network marketing are of the third class described above. I call them the Closers the ones that sell the lies they sell the sizzle not the steak. I know I was one. I was good enough that I have had buyers beat me back to the office to cancel before I got back.
I don't want you to get me wrong. I respect a good closer. The lie I speak of is: It will make you more beatful, it will make you thinner, richer, wiser and this is the only place you can get it. They make a lot of money. When they stop closing there is no more money.
This is changing and becoming more favorable to every day people who want to build a business where residuals are protected. You probably would not have written this article 3 years ago.
This is a good thing as you will see more of the every day people succeed rather than fail as most do today. There are companies that have structured themselves for that purpose. Do you realize the enormous growth that will occur if more start ups join the train because every day people are making money?

Are You Sure About This? Make Your Spammers Pay.
Paul, my job as a professional network marketer for the last 14+ years has been to "market my business", because I choose to market my business has allowed me to not have a job for a very long time. I understand that sometimes getting spammed on a social network can be annoying but it is only annoying because of your mindset at that time. I personnally love getting spammed because it gives me another opportunity to get involved in a conversation with someone in the industry. Someone who is already sold on the industry and is making a futile attempt to make money. I know that if I can speak to that spammer, then I can more than likely find out what is driving them and what they are looking for and why. If I find out these things, then I can explain to them why spamming doesn't work and present that factual result to them in a softened manner. Since I have found "their need" I now can offer them a "fix" to thier problem. (Send to magnetic sponsoring). 2 of my reps I sponsored this month were originally spammers. Ask the spammers to call you about what they are spamming you about. If they are the real deal wanting to make money then they will call. If it is a scam they won't. Take control of the conversation and show them a new light. You can sell them the mag spon book all day long. They are starving for leads and they have no money to buy leads! Hope this can change your mindset from annoying to opportunistic.

Thanks Timothy and Paul! Point well taken Eddie. I would like to know what the return on your investment is with that? I know one thing I have been learning is how valuable my time is, it's just not something we get back. I totally agree, it's great to help someone out and it's great to get paid because they bought Magnetic Sponsoring. I have found most people don't want to change, they don't want to help others, they just want to make a quick buck no matter what they look like doing it.
If people are willing to listen and change, I am MORE than happy to help them, but if it's a waste of time, let's move on.
I guess it comes down to the path of least resistance. Most people take it.
How To Get Spammers Into Your Business
As for the return on invested time, If I spend an hour on the phone with nothing but 4 spammers then I will sponsor 1. Is it worth it? Only you can answer that. For me I want to talk to at least 20 spammers a day. When someone spams me I always reply with "Sounds great, I'm interested can you call me because I have some questions?" It takes me 5 seconds to reply with an email. Those that have a burning desire to make money will call and those that are just looking for a fast buck won't call. So I spend time talking with people that want to make money but are so broke that they can't buy leads at all. They have resorted to panhandling. When they see a way to get leads for free what do you think they will do. If your phone game is an "A" then you will get people into your business. If it is not then get it to the "A" status. You can never waste your time with someone who is giving you information about what they are doing and why. Some say writing articles is a waste of time too.
