Well we’ve nearly graduated this short course. Only a couple more courses to go.
Branding. Yourself, your company, your cause. You must now begin to think about how you are going to use all of the techniques discussed to date, to brand yourself.
Let’s talk briefly about photos/display images. I use the same one for all of my social networking endeavours that I want to keep together. It makes me easily identifiable. People recognize me by my image even though sometimes my name/handle changes slightly between sites.
Why is this important?
Ask Coca-cola, KFC, McD’s. They are instantly recognizable world-wide. Aside from the Amazon there isn’t a place on earth you wouldn’t know their icons.
Some networkers change their image all the time, some more than once a day. Unless I know them by name, I won’t recognize them instantly. It means I have to work a bit more because I have to read the name of the post. It annoys the hell out of me actually.
Why? Because there is so much to read isn’t there? Do you want to waste time trying to find someone you’re following by reading an endless list of names or do you want to quickly scroll down the page looking for their picture? Picture = much easier.
Colour can work equally as well. Whatever you choose, choose carefully, once, and stick to it. Make it your brand. Or if you feel compelled to change, change all of your networking sites to the same so everyone knows you’ve changed and now what to look for.
Sizzle on
