Reasons People Say NO to Your MLM Business

It is no longer news that one of the best things people can get themselves involved with at this time is MLM or as others would like to call it, Network Marketing. My post on the 7 Things harder than building a Network Marketing business is a case in point.

When people realize that MLM is such a great alternative to their 9-5 job, and even traditional business which suck their most precious commodity, time, they become enthusiastic and would not mind borrowing and giving their all to make things work for themselves in this awesome business.

I was on a training call yesterday night, supporting a couple of my downline and the level of energy exhibited by those on the call was so infectious. You see, when you do things right, people tend to ‘get it’, and when they get it they will go all out to make things work.

But why exactly do some people not want to join this business despite the huge promises in the industry?

This happens often: you see someone who you know would be PERFECT for your MLM business opportunity and upon approaching him/her says NO. It could be upsetting. Let’s look at the core reasons…

Reasons People Say NO to your MLM business Opportunity

In this post I intend to help you uncover why someone would say NO to a MLM business opportunity and how to increase your chances of these same people saying YES to you.

  • Cash

Like I said on the webinar I did two nights ago on ‘The Only Mindset Needed to Build a Successful MLM Business in 2012’ as well as in ‘My Story’, Robert Kiyosaki was one of the chief influencing factors on my decision to join the MLM industry. He recommended the industry and I went about looking for a business to join.  Robert Kiyosaki said that people with the employee mindset concentrate much more on their resources whereas an entrepreneur concentrates more on the opportunity.

Upon seeing an opportunity, people with an entrepreneurial mindset think along the lines of ‘how will I afford it?’ instead of ‘I cannot afford it’.  Employees concentrate on what will go wrong while entrepreneurs focus on what could go right. A person with an employee mindset will focus on what money they have in their account versus how great the opportunity is and they might be able to come up with the money.

This is the way it is: A MLM business opportunity is unique in that, unlike a franchise that costs btw $50k - $300k, you can get into a MLM business opportunity for a few hundred dollars. But despite this, you will STILL have the employee mindset people say NO to you as they just cant see themselves having that extra money to change their lives. It is funny how many people won’t invest a dime into an opportunity that can better their life but don’t have a problem blowing 300 to 500 dollars a month going out to eat and having drinks 3 nights a week or whatever else they don’t need. It is ironic that the people you meet that need this opportunity the MOST will be unable to see it for what it can do for them.

  • Past Experience

So many people have a thing or two against MLM because they have been approached by poorly trained mlm business owners. These guys have tricked, annoyed, chases and begged people to look into their MLM business opportunities. They have acted so unprofessionally, to say the least.

As a result of this, a lot of people have been led to believe that that is the ONLY way to promote a MLM business opportunity and I tell you, not many people would love to trick and hound their friends into looking at a business opportunity.

Those methods of tricking and begging friends and family are very ineffective and outdated. They don’t work! There are training out there that teaches you how to approach your friends and family without having to lie to them.

If you are going to be approaching the majority of people that have been ‘sleazed’ on, you will have to not just be prepared to tell them about your business, but also SHOW them how you have approaches that would not require them to chase, beg and bug. Here is a Training Video I recommend on how to approach such people the right way.

  • Product

Let it be known that people join people, not an opportunity. But something is becoming clear to me: network marketing is not just about getting a fast start bonus, it’s about duplication.

At a particular point, products indeed MATTER. For those that were conversant with MLM in the 90s, there was a company called Excel Telecommunication. At this period, this company exploded with growth. Upon a closer look, experts say that it is due to the product, that professional people could see themselves involved in versus what had previously been offered in the mlm business.

Fantastic personalities and compensations are without a show of doubt good, but NOT ENOUGH to sustain years and years of growth. You have to be honest enough to evaluate your product and see who naturally would be interested in it.

I have found out that one of the reasons my company, Avenues to Wealth, is poised to explode in the UK is because apart from the other tremendous benefits in the Product, it has made Unbelievable provision for an alternative to the ordinary pension scheme available to the UK population, as well as Strategic Investment positioning  for the citizens. And intelligent people are getting positioned early for the Super Growth that would happen this year.

  • YOU

Let me ask you a question, ‘If YOU meet YOU in a restaurant and you talk to yourself about your MLM business opportunity, would you SIGN UP with you?’ If you can not confidently say YES to this question, you need to WORK on YOU to change that. You must know that persuasion is based upon the attitude of the salesman, not the attitude of the prospect.

I said this on a training call and I will say it again: when you see anyone, do you see them as objects of getting you Fast Start Bonuses or as humans that you can help improve their lifestyles. That’s a chief display of character, my friend.

Are you going about your business in such a way that it will be easily duplicated? Are you using third party resources such that your downlines will know it is something anyone can also do?

You have to believe in yourself. If you do not believe in you, why should anyone else? The more belief you have in yourself and your company, the more people will WANT to join you and your company.

If you do not believe in yourself constantly, vigilantly and for more than a couple days, you will constantly struggle to build your business. Belief is FREE and you can choose to have it RIGHT NOW. Know that it has been done before and you can do it.

Know that people lesser than you, dumber than you, poorer than you have created massive empires in MLM and YOU can too. Bump up your belief and you will bump up your income!

Don’t wish for things to be easier, wish for YOU to be better.
- Jim Rohn
