Read More: Dealing with Objections

I've come to love objections. I once heard someone say objections are a way of the person testing you subconsciously. Subconsciously they're asking "ok, what do you got? Are you good enough to be my sponsor, mentor, etc.?" There's a lot of different objections that you'll receive and the longer you're in the business a few will become common.

  1. This is one of those pyramid things.
  2. I can't afford it.
  3. I don't have the time.

I love them all. But I especially like the first. When someone responds this way I know how little information they actually have. And my response is something like:

"You're right. By the way what do you have against pyramids? (we have a good laugh) No seriously though, what isn't a pyramid? I mean government, education systems, any corporation or business has a pyramid structure right? Even humanity - Adam and Eve right? And it's strange to think about it like that but two people sponsored me into this world. (haha) Right? Listen, I know how you feel, I felt the same way and used to think the same thing, that network marketing is a pyramid scheme. But what I found is that brilliant business people consider network marketing the best kept secret in the business world. What is a pyramid scheme is when people sponsor people and no product or service is exchanged. The scheme takes money from the new comers to pay the people who got in ahead of them until it eventually collapses. Let me ask you a question, do you consider Avon or Mary Kay a pyramid scheme? That's our industry."

From this point I encourage the person to get the facts. Because it's foolish to speak on something that you have no facts on. But that's what plenty of people do and that's why this is one of the most common responses. They are just repeating something they have heard someone else say.
