How I sponsored 40 people in 2 days...and how you can too!

OK network marketers lets have a little heart to heart about something that is probably weighing heavily on your mind right now: how to sponsor more people.

Sponsoring people into your business should be your daily focus because it is an activity that creates 2 things that every net worker loves : Volume and Momentum.  As a business owner ( and you are a business owner), your primary responsibility is to ensure your business is profitable.  The more people you share your products with...the more chance you have at increasing your profit.

All business are concerned with the same thing aren't they?   Business owners from every industry must ensure they are continuously exposing their products and services to qualified people and eventually those efforts will lead them to a percentage of individuals that will buy the service or product being offered.  It is no different in network marketing.

Now unfortunately, most of your time in network marketing will be spent following people who have little or no experience in marketing or sales.  Though some may have the natural "gift of gab" that gift is not duplicable so you will hear things from your upline like : Just go share!

BS! That's like telling Pepsi "find a customer and entrust your corporate goals on that customer,don't worry they'll find you another one!  Pepsi would never stop marketing no matter how big they got and you should never, ever stop sponsoring people.  Once you stop sponsoring people ...you're people will follow.   Think about it:

Ask a Real Estate Agent if they ever stop door knocking or prospecting....NEVER
Ask a small business owner if they ever stop advertising......no way.

Do you get the picture?

Your up-line will tend to shy away from telling  you how many people you actually have to talk to in order to be successful in network marketing. . You see they don't want you too know how much work is really needed in order to succeed in networking because if you know...you might be scared off,and that's the last thing they want. If you're scared off then you don't order products, and if you don't order products then they don't make $$.

Another reason why they don't want you to think of yourself as a salesperson is because if you're a salesperson then you role is to sell and market yourself and your products.   If that's the case then there must be some sort of "sales and marketing training" and 9 times out of 10 your up line has no idea how to teach you techniques to make you better because they themselves have never learned proper sales and communication training.  The idea that you must "Share" and  not know proper sales techniques is a flat lie your upline tries to feed you.

Here are the two major side effects of this lie:
#1. There’s a lack of proper sales training because if it’s not sales,
then there’s no need for sales skills. As a result, you and your new distributors are being thrown out there to fend for yourselves...and you have no idea how to properly communicate with people.
#2. Unfortunately most distributors are immediately set up for failure because they’ve been given false expectations
about how easy Network marketing is going to be. Labeling this whole business as “sharing” makes it sound real easy doesn't it?. New distributors are set up to think its going to be a cake walk and when they find out it’s not they aren’t too likely to stick around.

Believe it or not I EVEN BOUGHT INTO IT!!!!  Before I listened to my upline and their "Proven System" my business skyrocketed!  I just went out and did why I had been trained to do for years and it worked!  Then all of a sudden this new super duper system comes into my life and since I'm new to networking and hungry to learn, I believe everything they tell me. They tell me I need to "share " with everyone....and well, I started going backwards...and fast!

Here's the good part...I'm not your up-line!   That means I'm free to tell you the honest truth and the truth is that You are a salesperson!  You are constantly out selling yourself and the amazing products your company offers!

Thanks to my background in coaching,I can actually teach you specific keywords and language patterns that will lead you to increase your effectiveness out in the field,and ultimately help you sponsor more people.  That's what you want ...isn't it?

Great.... lets begin.  In order to sponsor more people there are two things that I want you to focus on and they are:

  1. Your goals,dreams and desires : You want to earn $100k a month while working from home paying "0" overhead spending all the time you can imagine with your family? DONE.  This industry can provide it for you.  You must get crystal clear on the vision you have for your life and take action steps daily until the vision becomes a reality.
  2. THE SKILL SET NEEDED TO ACHIEVE THE GOAL: This is where most people fail in network marketing.  They fail to understand the skill set that will be needed in order to achieve the goals they desire.  Leadership, marketing, internet savvy, social media.....sales skills.  You heard me right...sales skills.  Sales skills are everything !
  3. Someone with the right vision and skill set can do anything! They can even sponsor people...without having a product!  Here's an example:

In my first two days in my previous company, I was able to sponsor 40 people.  I had no experience,no flip chart,no video and no product, (matter of fact I don't think I had even tasted it).  Now how is that possible you might ask? It is all a result of one word

Its called Influence.

Influence comes from your ability to communicate your thoughts and ideas in a clear and convicting fashion.  That influence normally comes from your belief in yourself.  Now you may be thinking"But Danny, I've never been in leadership situations.   Ive never done all that well in business in my life and so I don't feel like I have influence. "

Sponsoring Equals Building

Thank you, Danny. I couldn't have said it any better than you did by laying out what it actually takes to be successful in network marketing.

You see, I've been in network marketing for a long while. Most of those years I was like many others, part time or spare time, really. It wasn't until I got fired from my 8 to 5 job, started a business with a credit card to the tune of $18K, built it from the ground up to a five figure company, that I realized what I had done wrong in my networking business.

Since I've been applying the same rules to networking as I've used in my "brick and mortar" business, the whole business has changed, it is growing. I think what really changed was my mindset, the work comes before the freedoms.

We sell freedom of time, freedom from debt, freedom to do what you want when you want...the part of the formula we forget to sell is the "work" part. We really do our prospects a disservice when we are not above board and honest with what it is going to take to succeed.

So, thank you for this article, it helped some of the muddy waters clear a little bit more for me today.

Hey Danny

Your article, I'm going to send a link to it to the subscribers on my list because I just got finished sending a similar email out. This will just back up more of what I was saying.

But I have one problem and this comes from my past efforts in network marketing. When I read the script I downloaded, I just felt the past all over again. It really does sound like the typical MLM old school approach that shot me down hard before.

I'm still trying to learn the online marketing thing through providing value with content using attraction marketing. I haven't tried going back to how I did it before.

In the script it sounds like it's telling you to talk to people as if you know them, asking them what's new in their life. Also the script says, you trust my judgment. These seem very awkward, unless you know these people already.

The context of the script is for people you already know. I don't see myself just talking to anyone like this.

Maybe there's something I can't see, and I am open minded to find out what's unique to the script.

Great points you're making on sponsoring and the real purpose for it. Yes, it's about volume, making money, etc.

But it's also about "improving people's lives".

If we want great success, then we should not only think about ourselves.

Hey thanks for the Question. The reality is there are so many different scripts for so many different situations. Tell me what you need and maybe I can help you.
I will tell you this, great communicators and salespeople are so because of their ability to ask great questions and listen to their prospects response.
Eventually you'll get to a point where you can come up with your own scripts at the top of your head, because great questions....questions that really have an interest in the prospect will come to you naturally.
