Looking For MLM Success? – Stop Doing Stuff That Doesn’t Work

Is MLM Success eluding you? Do you feel emotionally exhausted by the process of building your business and feel like nothing is working for you?

Were you told that if you just got five people they would all go out and get five who would all get five and so on and so on until you ended up with an organisation of thousands of people? This is the promise of MLM Success so why isn’t it working for you in practice?

If you feel like you are beating your head against a brick wall every single day and moving further and further away from your goals, you probably need to stop doing stuff that doesn’t work.

If you are blindly listening to the advice of your upline and not getting the kind of MLM Success that you desire, or even worse you are creating reverse duplication and your team is actually shrinking, maybe it’s time to start doing something differently.

It was Albert Einstein who said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Is this the approach that you are using to build your business; grinding day in day out, in the hope that if you just work that little bit harder, you will somehow have a breakthrough and achieve MLM success?

If your team members are not duplicating your efforts then chances are you are either teaching them something so complex that they are not capable of doing it, or something that is simple but that just doesn’t work, neither of these approaches will lead to MLM Success.

An example of something that is simple to do and easily duplicated, but that doesn’t work in practice is making a list of your family and friends and inviting them over for a home meeting in order to present your business opportunity.

I’m sure some people will disagree with me on this point as this approach can work under certain circumstances but in the main it is something that worked well in the 1970’s but doesn’t work well in the year 2012.

The reason it doesn’t work is because things have changed significantly since the 1970’s due to the concept of social progression.  In 1970 before the invention of cell phones, text messaging, email, and caller id and before answering systems were widely used, if the telephone rang we pretty much dropped everything and answered it.

This means that if you had a list of 20 of your family and friends and called them all on the phone at 7 o’clock on a Sunday evening to invite them to a home meeting, chances are that most of them would probably at least answer the telephone.

In 2012 however, probably only around 5% of people will take your call and even your best friends do not want to talk to you unless they know in advance what you are calling for.

Out of twenty people who say they will come to a meeting, only around two will show up and the chances are neither of them will join your company because they are not interested and they didn’t want to be there in the first place.

As a business building strategy this is not a great recipe for MLM Success.

In short because of social progression you have to expend significantly greater effort for significantly less results, which makes the whole process emotionally exhausting and for the most part a complete waste of time.

This is the elephant in the room that is not being addressed by old school network marketers who continue to put their people through this pain in the interests of simplicity and duplication.

At the other end of the scale you have something that is equally destructive, when you teach something that works, but is incredibly difficult to execute, (for the masses anyway) like Attraction Marketing.

Attraction marketing and personal branding are proven methods for MLM Success, but probably only one in thousand people will ever truly do what it takes to be successful and most people who are exposed to the concepts of attraction marketing end up in a state of perpetual set up, learning and overwhelm. This may be an uncomfortable truth but it is a truth nonetheless.

So what’s the Secret to MLM Success?

Well whenever you increase cognitive resistance (make something more difficult to do) you decrease cognitive output (results);

So the thing to do is to teach people things that are easy to do and that actually work rather than things that create so much resistance that they never get done and even if they did they wouldn’t work anyway.

When we decrease the complexity of a task and increase its effectiveness, more people will do it and for longer periods of time, they will actually say; hey this looks like fun can I do it?

So the key to duplication and ultimately to MLM Success is to teach your team to do one single task, that they should undertake for an extended period of time, to teach it extraordinarily well and to ensure that it is highly effective.

It is far easier to ask a new team member to focus on one single task rather than a hundred different things, which is why the old school marketers back in the 70’s taught home meetings, because the strategy was simple, it worked to an extent and it was easy to explain.

The modern day equivalent of this process has become online lead generation through attraction marketing, but this has led to people being confused and overwhelmed by the complexities of building online, a great example of something that works but is not easy to do in practice.

Like it or not, not everyone is up to the emotional challenge of becoming a guru, but the good news is you don’t have to be a Mike Dillard or a David Wood in order to make money online.

Realising this simple truth will actually set you free and allow you to take you and your ego out of the equation and look at the bigger picture, ask yourself do you want to be right or do you want to be rich?

What will lead to duplication and ultimately to MLM Success is to find a system for you and your team members that does all of the selling and follow up without any outside intervention and boil the task of promoting it down to one single task, driving traffic.

Mastering the skill of driving traffic to a high converting offer and helping your team mates to do the same thing, whilst remaining focused for an extended period of time, will undoubtedly lead to the MLM Success that has been eluding you
