Network Marketing And The Power Of Story Telling!
One of the most untaught secrets to Network Marketing success, or just sales in general is the art of storytelling. Telling stories is one of the most effective strategies that you can employ when speaking to a prospective customer or distributor.
Relating to Your Prospect
Storytelling is actually the easiest ways to get a prospect to start relating to you, your products or services, and your business opportunity.
People want to know how what your pitching them has worked for you, and how it might work for them. By hearing your story, they begin to relate to your situation, and they start to visualize how it might work for them.
This tactic can tremendously increase the possability that they might buy your product or service, and it works wonders when talking to a prospective distributor.
Using Storytelling
I'm sure there are studies that can explain why storytelling is so effective in sales, but it really doesn't matter why it works. The fact is it's easy to do, and it really does produce some incredible results.
I personally feel it's a good idea to have several different stories relating to your product or service, and several different stories that you can use when talking to a new prospect concerning your business opportunity.
Charles "Tremendous" Jones made a great point when he said, "Never give a point without a story and never tell a story without a point."
It's important to always have a point for the story you’re going to tell, so put some thought into this, and develop several different stories that you might be able to use for different situations.
An Example Of How To Use Story Telling
You're talking to someone who is interested in making some additional income, and they are in a position where it is almost necessary for them and their family. Their concern is that they're so busy with their job that they don't know if they could make the time for it.
You might say, you know Jerry I understand exactly how you feel. One of my business associates was in a very similar situation. He was working 2 jobs just to try and make ends meet.
But we knew that if he didn't make any changes in his life, things were never going to get any better for him or his family and he has 2 young children. So we figured out a way where he could work an hour a day on building his business, and we helped him. If he needed to schedule a meeting with someone but couldn't get his schedule to match up with theirs, I went ahead and conducted the interview for him.
It took us about 6 months but we were eventually able to help him make enough money that he was able to quit his second job. Now he has a better life style and he has a lot more time to spend with his wife and kids.
Now I don't want you to think that I'll do everything for you while you do nothing, But the reason I'm telling you this is because I've helped others over come this very same challenge. So if your willing to put commit yourself to this myself and several of our team members will be more than happy to give you a hand where ever you need it.
Telling a Story
Obviously you wouldn't make something like this up and lie to someone, but you get the point. I've heard people say, "I'm new to this so I don't really have a story to tell yet". Sometimes this is true, so until you have one of your own I suggest using someone else’s stories. In fact you'll want to do this even when you do have your own story to tell. Trust me they won't mind!
Listen to the people in your company and ask them to share their story with you, or the story of the people they've worked with. Start to become a collector of stories and they will serve you and your prospects well!
