Network marketing recruiting has changed over the course of time though many opportunities have not kept up with the times. I break the various methods down into four categories:

1) Warm/cold Contacting
2) Marketing focused on your MLM opportunity
3) Marketing focused on your MLM’s product
4) Marketing focused on helping other MLMers be successful with their MLM business

Network Marketing Recruiting: Warm / Cold Contacting 

With this method of network marketing recruiting, your upline has likely told you to make a list of friends, family and acquaintances, and then to do network marketing prospectingcontacting them in order to show them your business plan. They may also tell you to go out and meet people or leave fliers on car wind shields in attempt to reach others that you could show the plan. You may find some prospects utilizing this method but it is definitely old school from the 80′s and 90′s and is not a targeted approach.

Whether we like it or not, most of our friends and family will not have the same drive that we have to change things in our life and sometimes you would know when you do MLM Prospecting with them. They may talk a good line but when it comes down to putting in the effort, forget it. An analogy that may help clarify this point is that of the old hound dog lying on the porch. He happens to be lying on a nail sticking up through the boards and is howling from the pain. But his need to change does not outweigh the effort it would take for him to move… so he just lies there howling about it. Sound like anybody you know?

This method is NOT a targeted approach. You will spend a considerable amount of time and money time traveling to meet prospects in order to show them the plan. The other reality to face here is that you will inevitably need more leads beyond your warm market if you truly want to be successful. And there are a lot better ways to leverage your time, money and talents.

Network Marketing Recruiting: Marketing Focused on Your MLM Opportunity 

With this method of network marketing recruiting, you are moving away from contacting friends and family. Prospects are responding to promotional material about a generic business opportunity. This is a far more targeted approach and you are no longer chasing your prospects. The trick here however is to not run out of money generating leads before your business gets off the ground. Don’t run out of money and you will love MLM Sponsoring.

If you are planning on purchasing leads, it will cost you about $1.50 to 5.00 per lead assuming you are looking for a fresher lead. The kicker is that about 95% of these leads:

1) Are looking for job not a business
2) Have already been called multiple times and are irritated about being called… even though they are supposed to be fresh leads
3) Are the old hound dog on the porch… wanting something for nothing
4) Won’t answer

This can be a great short term approach while you are building the infrastructure to generate your own leads, but make sure you do not go broke in the process.

Generating your own leads is really what you should be focusing on for the longer term. This can be done through free internet marketing methods such as article marketing, video marketing, blogging, etc. It will take time and some skill in order to generate the appropriate traffic to your promotional material. If you have a larger budget, pay per click advertising, list builders, or other techniques can be used. The goal again here is not to go broke in the process.

When you generate your leads for a generic business opportunity, you do not have to worry about prospects having been called multiple times. If you phrase your promotional material appropriately, you can also screen out those just looking for a job. You may however still run into the old hound dogs but that is inevitable. This can be a decent approach and is far more targeted than warm/cold contacting.

Network Marketing Recruiting: Marketing Focused on Your MLM’s Product

With this approach to internet marketing recruiting, individuals are responding to promotional material that will solve a problem they are experiencing. Here are a couple of things to consider with this approach.

1) This may be a great way to find retail customers but we ultimately looking for business partners in order to leverage our time and money.
2) If you state your company or product name in the promotional material, prospects may not opt into your information since they can do another search on line for the product or company name without opting in.
3) Dependent upon your product, there can be a lot of competition making it difficult to differentiate yourself. There are thousands of MLM products in the health industry for instance.

Network Marketing Recruiting: Marketing focused on helping other MLMers be successful with their MLM business

Before we begin discussing the last approach, would you agree with these statements?

1) Even if you utilize a more targeted approach focused on your MLM opportunity, prospects will be on the defensive because you are trying to sell them on that opportunity.
2) It would be ideal if you could reach prospects who already understand the leverage that can be achieved through network marketing… not just opportunity seekers.
3) 95% of leads you generate will say no to your MLM opportunity… costing you valuable time and money

With this approach to MLM recruiting, you are attempting to reach out to other MLMers and help them with their network marketing issues. As you have read in the above approaches, most network marketers have the same issues. They need more leads and don’t want to go broke in the process of getting more leads. If you can point them toward a lead generation and a MLM Recruiting System that provides them with internet marketing guidance and basically runs on autopilot, they will see the advantage of this approach compared to the other methods listed above.

If you sincerely try to help others solve these issues and build a rapport with them, many will become very interested in hearing about your primary business opportunity.
