How Do You Come Across On The Phone?
How do you feel, when you call a company and they sound morbid, like a zombie, not even bothered and you can feel they don't even smile?
You worked for your cash and you know there's many other companies that can provide the service. Do you just take what you get from such a phone call?
No, you find a company that doesn't sound like they losing business.
Hello, My Business Is not Great, Why You Calling Me?
It literally made me feel like not buying anything from all these companies I called.
The phone call I made, was to get quotes for fitting ADT alarm system, with camera, senses, the lot due to refurbishing a massive house and before putting tenants in.
I called, literally 20 companies. 20 companies and each one, sounded like Zombies, unhappy and I thought to myself..
"Jeesh, no thanks. I don't want even buy from these morbid, sad gits.."
That's a customer right now, (me) saying no to spending a few thousand pounds on alarm systems from these companies.
It Took 21 Phone Call To Find A Happy Business Owner...
On the 21st call, the woman was happy that I called. It was like, she loved her business or she loved working for the company she is with. Asking questions, and even saying:
"So, how did you find us, be great to find out.." and "Oh wow, how did you get that place then?"
Very friendly, not pushy at all and booked an appointment for her engineers to come to the 10 bedroom house. To later give me a quote.
It amazes me, when businesses complain about recession and don't get it, that this kind of way of answering the phone, doesn't do good for their business.
So, do you smile when you're on the phone?
Are your excited when a customer calls.
Or is it all drone, and Zombie like on phone, as if you haven't slept for days.
Record your voice oneday when you answer phone or call prospects and see.
Check your answer machine too.
Here's How To Silence The Voice In The Head
It happens quietly, in our head, words going round and round, creating the fear. Suddenly, that fear escalates to procrastinate the person or have a different attitude on phone.
Before going on the phone, shake it off. Read something to inspire you. Put a CD on. Dilute as much as you can. Works great if this is done everyday. But if you need to do the call now, then answer back the voice.
Challenge it, dilute it, read something to uplift you but afterwards, start doing this consistently and prepare the mind with true belief and not instill fear, and fear of the unknown.
People can feel it in our voice. Smile on the phone and just be yourself.
