Robert Butwin's Rule Of Five

Robert Butwin says there are five types of people you will find in network marketing:

1. People who want good products at a fair price - customers.
   
2. People who want to have their products paid for.
3. People who want to replace a payment.
4. People who want to replace an income.
5. People who want to become wealthy.

If you want to have your products paid for, find five customers.

If you want to replace a payment, find five people who want to have their products paid for.

If you want to replace an income, find five people who want to replace a payment.

If you want to become wealthy, find five people who want to replace an income.

We thought it was brilliant and way too simple, so we did the math ...

Let's assume your company pays a respectable 30% commission for retail sales, and a respectable 20% for downline commissions.  For each customer buying 100 points (about $150) per month, that's $30 per month to you.  For each downline rep or customer buying 100 points per month, that's $20 per month to you.

If you want to have your products paid for, find five customers.  That's 5 x 30 = $150 and your products are paid for.

If you want to replace a payment, find five people who want to have their products paid for.  You'll have 5 + 25 = 30 people in your business, earning you 30 x 20 = $600 per month.  Now you have your products and your car paid for!

If you want to replace an income, find five people who want to replace a payment.  You'll have 5 + 25 + 125 = 155 people in your business, earning you 155 x 20 = $3100 per month, or about $37000 per year.  Most people would regard that as a good income, or at least a start on retiring early or bringing a spouse home from work, sending the kids to college, putting a new roof on the church ...

If you want to become wealthy, find five people who want to replace an income.  You'll have 5 + 25 + 125 + 625 = 780 people in your business, earning you 780 x 20 = $15600 per month or $187000 per year!
