Your Word, ....or Theirs??
EXTRA, EXTRA!! READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!
Having a business is one thing. But if no one knows that business exists, you will not have any customers, and eventually no business. As we all know, the way to get the business name out there is to advertise.
Now there are many departments in big companies all over the word that are dedicated to advertising. And rightfully so! But sometimes, the oldies are still the goodies. There is yet to be an advertising method that is proven to be better than the age old method of the “Word Of Mouth”
Think about it. Even when Christ walked the earth, there was no television ad campaign, no big bill board. Just those that were around him and spent time with him, and then spread the word. That has led to a few billion Christians in the world today. The same system that worked then 2000 years ago, still works now. And this is even more prominent in this industry, where companies rely on people to promote their product through speaking to people in their own individual circles.
So how do we as self employed individuals use that model with our MLM business? People do business with people they know and trust. So you have been busy honing your craft, and promoting yourself and what you do. Eventually people will come through. Your first few prospects. That’s great! Now you can leverage their influence with the fast and easy method of…..referrals!
The customers that you have could actually be the best source of new customers for you, and they in turn can bring in even more customers…..you see the pattern emerging! And this could also essentially be a great thing for your “own” individual products that you have created. So you might even add that people also accept referrals from people they know and trust!
Now this usually happens organically. Your prospects will receive something of value from you, be it a product, service or advice. They are so pleased with it that they tell people about it and refer people that they know to you. So they in turn will become your customers, though you have never met / had any dealings with them as such before. So they based their doing business with you on the trust that they had in the person that referred them to you, taking away some of the hard work from you!
Another way this can happen is simply by you asking for them! “Ask, and You shall Receive”…..yes, I quote Christ here, but this really does work outside of prayer too. People really don’t mind as much as you may presume!
The thing to bear in mind is to be sure that you are actually producing value that people actually want / need. Ironically Bad news spreads much faster than good news. So if what you are producing is not of value, and people have a bad experience when dealing with you, believe me, that word will spread faster than you know, no matter how much advertising and self promotion you do!
So the moral here is to produce good value, and be mindful of how you deal with the prospects you come in contact with. Make sure you grow that trust and earn that respect from them. That alone, Friends, through people spreading the word, has incredible power to grow your business…..and don’t be afraid to ask. Let’s keep THEM spreading YOUR good word!
